Historia
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times..." So begins this classic, one of the most beloved novels of all time. Charles Dickens brings the French Revolution to life through such vivid characters as Charles Darnay, the Old Doctor, Sydney Carton and Lucy Manette. The action peaks with the storming of the Bastille, the dreaded symbol of government authority. And the blade of La Guillotine falls again...

Historia
Millions of words have poured forth about man's trip to the moon, but until now few people have had a sense of the most engrossing side of the adventure: namely, what went on in the minds of the astronauts themselves - in space, on the moon, and even during certain odysseys on earth. It is this, the inner life of the astronauts, that Tom Wolfe describes with his almost uncanny empathetic powers that made The Right Stuff a classic.

Historia
"Oliver Twist", also known as "The Parish Boy's Progress", is the second novel by English author Charles Dickens, published by Richard Bentley in 1838. Oliver is led to the lair of their elderly criminal trainer Fagin, naively unaware of their unlawful activities.

Historia
David Copperfield is the eighth novel by Charles Dickens. It was first published as a serial in 1849-50 and as a book in 1850. Many elements of the novel follow events in Dickens' own life, and it is often considered his veiled autobiography. It was Dickens' favorite among his own novels.

Historia
Set in the small towns, ball fields, barns, and bedrooms of Alberta, Canada, and populated by some of the quirkiest, rowdiest, hottest-blooded folks in fiction, Box Socials paints a brilliantly comic, full-color portrait of North American life in the 1940s. Here is the story of how “Truckbox Al” McClintock, a small-town greaser whose claim to fame was hitting a baseball clean across the Pembina River, almost got a tryout with the genuine St. Louis Cardinals - but instead ended up batting against Bob Feller.

Lake Wobegon Meets Ring Lardner
Revisado: 05-17-15
A quirky story of Truckbox Al's chance to make the bigs in the Summer of '45 (or maybe it was '46, no one can remember for sure) away out in rural (and I mean rural) Alberta, Canada, and of the people of the area (Norwegians, Danes, Swedes, a lost American soldier), and of a man remembering his youth.

The program continued to feature the charismatic and fiery Welles as both a host and an actor. The great Lionel Barrymore portrayed Ebenezer Scrooge in Campbell Playhouse's annual performance of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.

OK For Its Time, But....
Revisado: 12-26-14
Step back into the 1940's as you, along with hundreds of thousands of others, listen closely to your radio where a small sound stage is recreating Dickens' best-loved story. The trouble is, it's been so gutted and rewritten to fit within the timeline of a radio "hour" that its full flavor has been watered down. The old Scrooge would've said "Bah!", and the new Scrooge might have added a tiny "Humbug" under his breath.

Historia
A wealthy and depressed man (thanks to the economy, he's not quite rich enough to expand his cache of paintings by Vincent Van Guy, the famed Dutch realist) bound for Christmas in the tropics is abruptly summoned home to North Dakota to visit an ailing aunt. He arrives just in time to be trapped there by a blizzard. The electricity goes out, and when it does, figures from his childhood appear, and historical figures too, for a festive candlelit holiday.

The story takes place in The Winglebury Arms, the chief inn in the little town of Great Winglebury. When an anonymous letter form one of the guests is misinterpreted by the mayor of the town events don’t go quite as planned! This humorous little tale, told as only Dickens could, is as sure to amuse now as when it was written over 150 years ago.

A deadly duel at dawn, just hours away. Mistaken (and badly at that) identity betwixt a lord and a fop. Love lost. More convenient love found.
