Historia
For more than 150 years I've served the Kingdom of Sena. Through four Kings and a Queen. Two wars and a rebellion. I've founded and taught at a magic school. I've fought against beast waves and dungeon breaks. But now? Now, the one close friend I had left has passed. So, I'm done with their politics and their economics. The short and busy lives of humans are more burden than benefit on the weary soul of this half-elf.

Historia
In the world of Warbreaker, each person is born endowed with the power of one Breath―which can be sold and collected by others, then used to Awaken objects and even corpses to do their bidding. A few individuals who die in glory return as gods, with the power of thousands of Breath, but no memory of their mortal lives―and are enthroned in the Court of Gods in Hallandren’s capital. To Vivenna and Siri, princesses of Idris, the abuse of Breath and the claim of the Returned to be gods are repugnant blasphemy.

I wanted to like this, I really did
Revisado: 05-05-23
I've made it all the way until there's only about an hour left in the book, and I just flat out don't care to finish it. I don't care about any of the characters, or the plot, or anything going on.
I love all of his other books, but this one just really is not doing it. it's such a shock to go from Children of time or cage of souls to this and realize it's the same author. the others are works of art whereas this one manages to be quite boring despite an interesting idea and premise.

one of the best fantasy series on the market
Revisado: 09-19-20
from start to finish, the series has completely hooked me. the characters, world building, story, lore and more always leaves me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what happens next.
sadly there's only one book left in a series, but I'm hopeful we may get yet another prequel series going back even further in time, the Lore supports such an endeavor

phenomenal book from start to finish, one that had my looking for reasons to go for a walk or take an extra shower just so I could listen to a bit more of the book to find out what happened next
the narrator was amazing as usual, the only blip I noticed was he changed the pronunciation for Mina the wolf, but no big deal

A welcome addition to the fantasy genre
Revisado: 08-26-20
this book does a lot of things very well. characters, world-building, twists on the old cliches, the narrator, all around it has many nice ideas and executes them very well.
it is good bang for your buck as well, as it is long for one credit, and you get your enjoyments worth.

sadly the worst Dresden book
Revisado: 07-23-20
marsters gets several voices wrong, and there are a slew of inconsistencies throughout the book. The book is basically one third of a book at best, it's drastically shorter than skin game, and ends out of nowhere unsatisfactorily.
The book felt rushed, with many characters feeling completely out of place and out of character. I think the long gap between books did not do any of them any favors
