The narration is wondrous and the narrator seems to be someone who understands the peculiarities of the story's locale. He is wonderful! I read this story to my granddaughter about two years ago and it bothered her at first. But when Matilda started getting even with her awful parents, Tara latched on to the idea and has even bought the audiobook with her allowance - yes we still do that here. She says she will pass this on to her own children when she has a family of her own.

Mr. Dahl would certainly approve of this telling. I know the author's work from over the years and the actor makes this one completely believable. When you watch the Hitchcock film "Psycho" you have some idea how you might be drawn into Roald Dahl's stories. The writer has a rare gift for the grotesque and this is one of his best in that respect

HIS PHRASING IS IMPECCABLE, HIS CHARACTERISATION SUPERB.
