Historia
Without John C. Houbolt, a mid-level engineer at NASA, Apollo 11 would never have made it to the moon. Top NASA engineers on the project, including Werner Von Braun, strongly advocated for a single, huge spacecraft to travel to the moon, land, and return to Earth. It's the scenario used in 1950s cartoons and horror movies about traveling to outer space. Houbolt had another idea: Lunar Orbit Rendezvous. LOR would link two spacecraft in orbit while the crafts were travelling at 3,600 miles an hour around the moon. His plan was ridiculed and considered unthinkable.

Pretty good
Revisado: 08-24-19
Overall pretty good. A little dry, but pretty interesting. Except there was a weird negative statement about President Trump in the middle of it. That’s always a turn off and makes a book look like it has a political agenda, rather than being an honest and unbiased credible history.

"Her technique was simple: aim for the top", an envious colleague wrote of Clare Boothe Luce. No American woman of the twentieth century aimed so accurately or rose so far as this legendary playwright, politician, and social seductress.

Three stars
Revisado: 11-11-18
I gave this book 3 stars not because of a fault with the author, but because the subject was so painfully self-centered, conceited, unfaithful, dishonest, and self-promoting that it wasn’t something I wish I had taken the time to listen to. It definitely wasn’t an uplifting story about someone who was growing and maturing as a human being. It just seemed like a story about someone who continued their childhood vices and destructive habits throughout adulthood. Aside from the occasional entertaining description of fancy clothes, and a bit of historical background, I wouldn’t say it is worth the read.

Like every other hobbit, Bilbo Baggins likes nothing better than a quiet evening in his snug hole in the ground, dining on a sumptuous dinner in front of a fire. Soon he joins the wizard’s band of homeless dwarves in search of giant spiders, savage wolves, and other dangers. Bilbo quickly tires of the quest for adventure and longs for the security of his familiar home. But before he can return to his life of comfort, he must face the greatest threat of all.

Great!

I loved listening to this book. It was fantastic. It kept my attention and had a lot of overlap with what is going on in America today.

Historia
Frankie Laundau-Banks is no longer the kind of girl to take "no" for an answer. Especially when "no" means she's excluded from her boyfriend's all-male secret society. Not when her ex boyfriend shows up in the strangest of places. Not when she knows she's smarter than any of them.

Thought it would be fun
Revisado: 12-17-15
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
I thought this book might be fun to listen to. It was a fairly entertaining story, but I have to say it lost me when the 15 year old girl was encouraged to go to Planned Parenthood to get condoms. With all the gruesome things going on there, I was really disappointed that the author would direct girls that young there, and it kind of soured the story for me.
