Go listen to Ready Player One, the Hunger Games, or Ender's Game. All of these novels have similar themes or settings and they're all much better books.

another great Molly Harper story!

Molly continues to give good paranormal romance in this funny take on another southern town where things go bump in the night. And of course Amanda Ronconi is excellent as usual.

Too twee for me.

Too twee for me. While there is some good writing in here Anders spends so much of the time trying to be cute and whimsical that it distracts from the story she's trying to tell. The whole thing has the feel of an lengthy io9 article which she wrote for. Not my bag, but if you like cute this may be for you.

More engaging than the first book in the series.

I struggled to get into the first book in the series. Sanderson's world is a little opaque intially and characters spent too much time whinging about their internal woes. Words of Radiance pays off the time spent on the first book and the whole world he creates solidifies into a discernable whole. if you struggled with the first book listen to this one as the pay off for time spent.

By far the best book on writing I've ever read.

Not only is this the best book on writing I've ever read it's in my top 10 favorite books of all time. Anne Lamott doesn't just give excellent advice on writing but captures the emotional roller-coaster that is the writing life. I often listen to this book rewind the beginning and start it all over again.

Another great Elrod book.

This book is another great book in the series of Jack Fleming. This book an the one before it are much less episodic than the others in the series. This one is a little darker but the end is really exciting and satisfying on a series level.

Funny Space Adventure with Good Science

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If you love science and space travel and want a good book with a funny narrator and good physics this is the one for you. Best book i've heard this year, with a great narrator who gets it!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Martian?

I don't want to ruin any plot but though the character is in danger he still makes you laugh.

Which character – as performed by R. C. Bray – was your favorite?

He does a great job with all the characters, even the female ones which is often a challenge for male readers.

Wil Wheaton pumps up fanfic drivel.

Where does Redshirts rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Towards the bottom unfortunately. This book is the worst combination of Douglas Adams and a Next Gen parody. This was my second Scalzi book and if possible was even worse than the other one I read. Scalzi is as insufferably full of himself, as usual, and the book is drowning in meta ideas that he thinks are more clever than they actually are. Wil Wheaton does a heroic job to save the tired genre parody retread. I guess Wil Wheaton was the obvious choice to read this book being a former TNG cast member but I wish he would vet his projects better.

Would you be willing to try another one of Wil Wheaton’s performances?

Absolutely! Wil Wheaton did a great job. I think his performance was better than the book deserved. While I think this is a superior performance to the other book Wil Wheaton narrated I'm more likely to go back and listen to Ready Player One.
