Imagine the largest man you've ever seen. He is at least 12 feet tall. He's made of leather. It looks like he has a third leg coming out of his pelvis. He is a total monstrosity. He has never worn pants in his whole life until he meets the homely out of towner who runs the local thrift shop who makes him a pair of jeans. They've never spoken until she drops off the pants. They almost fk in the kitchen. They're so in love she forgets about her infant. He says kind things such as, "it's not really for sucking but you could just use your hands if you don't mind" and "what's this dress called, show me your t!ts." Then she calls him daddy, and it was foreshadowing because her baby calls him daddy now too.
Someone call the police..

As the addict best friend in what feels like another life, I am glad I got my act together so I can torture my best friend with a different reason for my death than some form of substance abuse. This book is important and offers such a fresh perspective.

I want to share my one major criticism of this book. It is titled "The Women," yet it is only about one woman. I really wish this was a multiple POV book to learn more about the amazing supporting characters.
Overall, I can give this nothing less than five stars due to the uncontrollable sobbing this work evoked from my body. It was a truly beautiful, heartbreaking story.

Not the sequel we needed

Bleh. I don't even know what to rate this. I was very much looking forward to this sequel, but it didn't do anything for me.
It didn't feel like a continuation of the first book. Why did we need to completely rebuild their connection when that's what made the first book so charming? The gods sub plot was so boring and felt unnecessary. War and the consequences of it so closely mirror current events that it felt cringey to even read. The ending was rushed.
The writing was beautiful, but the story itself fell flat.

Listeeeeennnnnnnnnnnn! first of all - Lisa, our phenomenal narrator - with every click of the jaw and Nightmare laugh... SOMEONE GET HER AN AWARD RIGHT NOW. Holy hell.. the laugh. absolute thing of nightmares. This was such a strong sequel, cannot wait to see what else this author has in store.
