great narration and decent story

Engaging story, a bit predictable. Great narration and fun to listen to. Nice, feel-good adventure story. Parts reminded me of Sherlock Holmes.

Historia
This acclaimed story of World War II is rich in suspense, characterization, plot, and spiritual truth. Every element of occupied Holland is united in a story of courage and hope: a hidden Jewish child, an underdiver, a downed RAF pilot, an imaginative, daring underground hero, and the small things of family life which surprisingly carry on in the midst of oppression.

great story about a lesser known area of WWII.

great way to introduce kids to the tragedies and hardships of WWII. I believe it's best for ages 9 and up, although my 7 yo listened too. the children in the story acted courageously and with faith. great listen for the whole family.

Historia
In August of 1914, the British ship Endurance set sail for the South Atlantic. In October 1915, still half a continent away from its intended base, the ship was trapped, then crushed in the ice. For five months, Sir Ernest Shackleton and his men, drifting on ice packs, were castaways in one of the most savage regions of the world. Lansing describes how the men survived a 1,000-mile voyage in an open boat across the stormiest ocean on the globe and an overland trek through forbidding glaciers and mountains.

great story, excellent narrator
Revisado: 04-23-19
Best survival story ever. Narrator did a great job. I read the book awhile ago and waited a few years to share it with my children (ages 7, 8 and 10). It starts off a bit slow, but once they're on the ice, it's hard to stop listening.

My kids (ages 7, 8 and 10) and I have been working through Ralph Moody's Little Britches series, and I saw this title by the same author so we decided to try it. The story is interesting and well told and we enjoyed the narrator too. Highly recommend.

This sequel finds talented Ella, mischievous Henny, studious Sarah, dreamy Charlotte, and little Gertie helping Mama with their new baby brother, Charlie. Sydney Taylor's charming books capture the everyday life of a home with little money but lots of love and good times to share.

wonderful story. audio a bit to sharp and loud
Revisado: 08-14-17
the narrator did a great job with the accents and read with emotion. however, it was sometimes too loud and sharp and other times too soft to hear.
