My favorite audiobook of all time
Revisado: 06-24-23
I’ve listened to this dozens of times and the reader is so smooth I often play it when I want to rest. The stories are incredible, bizarre and weaves brilliantly between the observations in Point Pleasant, and other historical anecdotes. Creepy and Informative.

Historia
In 2003, a Roper Organization survey revealed that 33 million Americans may be abductees. Aliens in the Backyard is their story. One evening in 1981, Connie J Cannon was on I-75 with her young son, en route to their new home in Florida, when they suddenly found themselves on a military base, with a man in uniform holding a gun to her head as three Grays stood nearby. In 1979, Diane Fine was on her way from upstate New York to Vermont to see an obstetrics specialist for her high risk pregnancy, and experienced two hours of missing time. When she was finally examined at the clinic, she was told wasn't pregnant.

Actually this is one of the best UFO books out there
Revisado: 03-25-23
This book stayed in my wish list for quite a while, as the cover I found unappealing and I had not heard of the author. But I’ve read them all, Mack, Hopkins, Keel, Dolan, Vallee, etc, and this turned out to be one of my favorites. More of a collection of personal accounts than anything, it is written extremely well and very compelling. I don’t leave many reviews but had to leave one to steer fellow UFO enthusiasts toward this one. Get it!

Historia
I'm a 64-year-old retired lawyer and former Assistant Attorney General with an unusual story to tell. Every word of it is true. It happened in a state park known as Devil's Den. For fear of losing my job and damaging my reputation in the legal community, I never spoke about the incident. If it hadn't happened to me, I'd be skeptical too. In 1977, I was an active duty NCO in the USAF. A friend and I planned a two-night camping trip to explore the wilderness. We drove deep into the forest until we came to a high plateau. There on the horizon sat a perfect triangle of three very bright stars....

I have purchased a number of books on the subject of UFO’s and alien abduction over the last 30 years but this one is one of the best. I saw the reviews were high before I bought it and jumped in. I wasn’t disappointed.
The reviews of this book struggle under Performance as the author chose to narrate it himself. At first this choice seemed a poor one as the author does not have a smooth narrative voice, however once the story began to unfold it was clear that the story was very personal to him, and this made the revelations in the book more touching and frightening. Sharing this story with the author seemed very intimate once the book concluded and thus my 5 star rating.
This book is not a retelling of the same old abduction story. While some aspects are indeed commonalities of alien abduction, as I would expect from an actual lifelong abductee, there is a lot in this book that was new to me and may be to you as well. What is extraordinarily gripping is the author’s account of how the military handled his case. The author, an Air Force Veteran, lays out elements that are very disturbing, that only someone in the military could experience, yet tells stories that sheds light on the phenomena for all. I found this book to be very frightening and enlightening. I’m saddened that the most disturbing chapters of this book detailed how the military knows more than they say, and their utter lack of decency toward a fellow human.
As a discerning reader and often disappointed buyer, I would recommend this book to anyone on the planet. If UFO’s, Abduction and the military’s interest in the phenomena interest you, this man’s humble memoir is for you.

Despite the government's best efforts to explain it away, after nearly 70 years, Roswell is a story that just won't disappear. Parents who were present during or immediately after the incident may have passed on, but their children know what happened‚ and have paid dearly for their knowledge. These are their stories.

Narrator botches things, nice book nonetheless

I felt the book was good, but at times I was concerned the authors fed me a lot of speculation as absolute fact, and as a long term UFO buff, I did not like that.
However the narrator was the most distracting element of the audiobook even though his voice was very pleasant. He mispronounced Mac Brazel as Mac BraZEL, but worse, Roswell was ROSS Well. Of course these are small pronunciation issues and not in itself worthy of a bad rating but I found that I could not become engaged with the narrators performance as I didn't feel he was familiar with his subject matter. For clarification, would you enjoy an autobiography on Einstein if the narrator called him EinSTEEN? probably not, probably you would think 'the narrator has never heard of Einstein?' And that's why I give it a low score. The narrator has obviously never heard of Roswell, or Mac Brazel, yet was hired to read a book about it. I don't get it.
