Historia
Before he was the Gray Man, Court Gentry was Sierra Six, the junior member of a CIA action team. In their first mission, they took out a terrorist leader, at a terrible price. Years have passed. The Gray Man is on a simple mission when he sees a ghost: the long-dead terrorist, but he's remarkably energetic for a dead man. A decade of time hasn't changed the Gray Man. He isn't one to leave a job unfinished or a blood debt unpaid.

Pure adrenaline!
Revisado: 05-10-24
Fast pased from start to finish! Like a roller coaster ride and the ending is the big, fast drop! The story wasn't just one long shoot-em-up, John Wick style. I loved the characters and their interactions and the emotional connections that developed. I also really liked the way the chapters jumped from past to present and back, and how they were tied together. The narration is the best, takes the story to another level! I couldn't imagine a better narrator.

Great story BUT....
Revisado: 04-10-24
Great story but I almost quit halfway through, if it had been a longer read I probably would have stopped. The overall story was great and the narrator was wonderful, however, the dialog and inner thoughts of the protagonist were often pointless and even annoying. The story started off fine, trying to figure out what had happened, but once the basics were discovered the conversations and inner dialogs served no purpose. They didn't really develope the characters nor progress the story. That's when I wanted to quit, the only reason I didn't is because I only had 2-3 hours left in the book, and I'm really glad I didn't. From that point on the story picked up, and additional characters were introduced. The ending was not at all expected and had some action and suspense.

Good story, way too much politics
Revisado: 02-28-24
Good story, great action but way too much unnecessary politics. I enjoyed the book but the whole political agenda was unnecessary and slowed down the story, a lot. Okay Tom Clancy was a died hard republican, that's fine. The main characters are republican, again fine. But every bad guy is either a terrorist or a terrorist loving, American hating liberal? Come on! Is there not enough political division going on in the US right now? Reading is generally informative/educational, or escapism and it's not really an escape if you're painting half the country as evil American haters. The media is already doing that to each of us everyday.

Entertaining story
Revisado: 09-03-23
Several times the audiobook repeated the previous sentence or two, not sure if this is an issue with the app or the editing.
Overall all it was an entertaining story, however there seemed to be a lot of unnecessary filler information that had nothing to do with the story nor with any backstory.

Historia
In 2003, the Special Forces soldiers entered an area later called "the most dangerous place in Afghanistan". Here, where the line between civilians and armed zealots was indistinct, they illustrated the Afghan proverb "I destroy my enemy by making him my friend." Fry recounts how they were seen as welcome guests rather than invaders. Soon after their deployment ended, the Pech Valley reverted to turmoil. Their success was never replicated.

Good story.
Revisado: 05-25-23
This was a good story about the six months a special forces A team spent in Afghanistan in 2003-2004. It's a well written story and read by the author, who did a good job in both areas. I served in the US Army a couple of decades earlier so hearing about the total disconnect from the Pentagon and higher ups to the actual boots on the ground is very disheartening, but beyond a doubt true. The fact that they had a perfect road map of how it should have been done in Afghanistan but wasn't is infuriating. Once again US service men and women lost their lives half way around the world while politicians and generals played political games.

Revisado: 04-04-23
Simply great as always! Is it ultra-realistic, no, but I love the characters, the non-stop action, and I've even gotten to the point where I truly enjoy hearing about the intricacies his expensive vodkas. Lol
Honestly I can't wait to start the next book in the series!

Very enjoyable story.
Revisado: 10-31-22
Great story! I enjoyed everything about this. The story was non-stop action, great backstory and character development. Enough technical details to let you know the main character was a pro but not so much that it bogged down the story with useless information. Looking for another title from this author now!

Truly enjoyed this the book story!
Revisado: 10-18-22
Like a lot of stories there were many times when I thought, that was some string of coincidences to keep this story exciting yet still on track, but I guess real life is like that also. Maybe it just doesn't seem as contrived when you're actually living it as opposed to reading a work of fiction. It is a fast moving, informative and very enjoyable story. Most of the character were well developed, at least to the point that I cared about what happened to them.
