Dr. Raleigh is here. He’s the head counselor at the Two Adjustment Facility (TAF) I’m at. He died in an avalanche. Perry Whitcomb is here. I connected with him on Deadbook, Two’s version of Facebook. He was on my soccer team in middle school. He collapsed during one of our games. And get this, Heath Ledger is here. (Yeah, the Joker, himself.) He just had a new movie come out.

Not Nick at his best
Revisado: 09-03-23
I simply had a hard time connecting with the characters in this book. I wanted to love this series as much as I do all of Nick Pirog's others, and I've pretty much read the majority of them. It just didn't happen. I even started from the beginning again and reread it thinking I must have missed something, but that didn't work either. The narrator was very good. I'm not interested in spending money on any more books in this series.

With the house now Addie's, needed improvements in hand, and a weekend house party underway, how inconvenient of Rupert to turn up - not in the flesh, but as a spirit! Rupert has to perform a few good deeds before becoming welcomed to heaven.

I tried!
Revisado: 11-22-22
Unlike many others who listened to this book, I found the narration highly annoying. I don't know if I was the pitch of her voice or what but that was one of the reasons I couldn't finish it. The story itself wasn't enough to hold my interest. I never developed a connection with any of them, except the detectives, who may have been interesting had I have been able to finish it. This will be returned.

Historia
The extraordinary life of history's first modern lesbian who inspired the television series Gentleman Jack. Anne Lister's journals were so shocking that the first person to crack their secret code hid them behind a fake panel in his ancestral home. Anne Lister was a Regency landowner, an intrepid world traveller...and an unabashed lover of other women. In this bold new biography, prizewinning author Angela Steidele uses the diaries to create a portrait of Anne Lister as we've never seen her before: a woman in some ways very much of her time and in others far ahead of it.

Fascinating
Revisado: 09-08-22
I'm not a gay woman, but I read this book because Ann Lister was such an interesting person for the time in which she lived. I agree with the author, she had a huge ego and her only true love was herself. The trip she and Anne Walker took to Russia and beyond was incredible, especially for two women on their own. Of course, Ann considered herself the man. I felt sorry for Anne Walker. Ann wasn't kind to the women in her life, but draining Anne's bank account to satisfy herself was truly rotten.

I'm not sure...
Revisado: 08-13-21
...if I'll try the next one. The plot had more twists and turns than a rattle snake and I enjoyed the story. I know I'm in the minority here, but, for me, the narration was very distracting. Although the narrator is very good, her choice of voice for Jessie, the main character, sounded too young and too whiney. I did go in and slow the timing down, and that helped a bit but not enough. There were several other characters and their voices fit very well. I'm simply not sure I can listen to any more Jessie, though.

I'm Hooked!
Revisado: 05-07-21
One of the best authors I've read. I usually read historical mysteries, preferring the Victorian era, where "The game is afoot, Watson" got into my blood at a very young age. However, one day my eyes strayed and I added this series to my library. I'm so happy I did. God willin' and the creek don't rise, I'll never miss another of Nick's novels!

Boring
Revisado: 12-30-20
I finished this book simply because I kept hoping it would improve. It didn't. I found the narrator's voice irritating. This would be a good book for the juvenile section of the library.
