Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

loved it. it held my interest and I could not wait to finish. the author did a great job at making this book seem alive. he portrayed therapists and the mental health profession well. As a therapist and clinical trainer myself, I actually found versus that I would play for the students that I train to provide therapy, some that would help give them perspective on how to effectively conduct therapy, deal with their counter transference and some versus that can serve as a cautionary tale.

Historia
Barbara Arrowsmith-Young was born with severe learning disabilities that caused teachers to label her slow, stubborn - or worse. As a child, she read and wrote everything backward, struggled to process concepts in language, continually got lost, and was physically uncoordinated. She could make no sense of an analogue clock. But by relying on her formidable memory and iron will, she made her way to graduate school, where she chanced upon research that inspired her to invent cognitive exercises to “fix” her own brain.

this book gives me a great deal to think about in my work as a therapist. I have always believed that add/adhd were overdiagnosed, and this book shows us all the possibilities of what could really be going on beneath the surface. It is a bit intimidating to think that there are so many different types of learning disorders, but this book provides hope that there are people out there learning how to make a difference.

Love Kevin Hart!

He is my favorite stand up comedian, and when I listen to him read his book, I can picture him telling his story on stage, facial expressions, him bouncing around and all. He makes it come to life. I appreciate his honesty and openness. I love this book and he teaches some wonderful lessons that I will share with the at-risk youth that I work with as a therapist.

Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Wonderful!

This was my first audio book and I am worried others will not be able to live up to it. Trevor has amazing story telling capabilities. He makes you feel as though you are in South Africa watching his life from across the street. I felt a full range of emotions while listening. It was humorous, insightful, and I learned so much.
