Loved the unexpected twists and turns
Revisado: 08-08-24
I enjoyed the ride of the storyline and the tapestry of interesting characters. I don’t care for books I can guess the ending to at the beginning…this book had more than one surprise for me! I only gave a 4-star rating to the performance due to a personal preference more than a criticism of the female voice actress. Her higher pitched voice was unappealing to me (but not enough I couldn’t overlook it), and her acting during some of the love scenes were lacking in believability at times. Just a personal preference. Great story. Only the second book I’ve listened to by this author…won’t be the last! Both books full of twists and turns and very well written.

Wholesome, predictable, monotone
Revisado: 04-15-24
The stories were somewhat predictable, wholesome, and nice. The narration lacked emotion and was boring; somewhat monotone. Stories were entertaining enough to get me through a roadtrip, but not anything I enjoyed enough to think about after listening to them.

Historia
Grace Evans, an overworked New Yorker looking for a total escape from her busy life, books an Airbnb on a ranch in the middle of Wyoming. When she arrives at the idyllic getaway, she’s pleased to find that the owner is a handsome man by the name of Calvin Wells—and he’s eager to introduce her to his easygoing way of life. But there are things Grace discovers that she’s not too pleased about: A lack of cell phone service. A missing woman. And a feeling that something isn’t right with the ranch.

Historia
As the oldest of the McBride siblings, Morgan had to be protector and shepherd since Ma died and Pa ran off. It hasn't always been easy, especially when his heart longs to roam on the trail. But now that his brother Kit is married and settled, the time is right for Morgan to leave Buck's Creek. Little does he know that his hellcat of a little sister Junebug is dead set on keeping him at home and getting more help around the house–all with one honest advertisement in The Matrimonial News.

Historia
I was upgraded to first class on a flight from London to New York. The food, champagne, and service were impeccable. The blue-eyed man sitting next to me, even better. He was suave and intelligent. We talked and laughed, and something clicked. Fate took over and the plane was grounded, and we had an unexpected stopover for the night. With no plans, we made our own.

Thoroughly enjoyable
Revisado: 12-08-19
A little of everything in this entertaining love story. The thrill of passion with a handsome stranger. The light humorous banter between lovers. A mystery with a who-done-it woven in ending with a happily ever after. I really enjoyed the characters and story even if it was a bit predictable.
My only criticism is one I have with a majority of audible books...women narrators trying to portray male speakers/characters by disguising their voices. It takes the sexiness out of the male character and skews the character’s personality. This book has both a male and female narrator so I don’t see why the male can’t speak for the man throughout the book. It would mean depending heavily on a good editor to splice the lines seamlessly, but it would be much more enjoyable to the listener.
