It’s All About The Wedding
Revisado: 08-14-24
I liked this story. It was fun to read. I was shocked that almost the entire book took place at the wedding. That made it different from all the other fake wedding books I’ve read. The narrator, Meg Silvan, did a fantastic job on her performance. She was the reason I liked this story as much as I did. There were a lot of characters and she was able to do every one different enough that I could tell them all apart as she read. This book was an easy, fun listen.

Historia
If it weren’t for Emma Johnson, Caryn Johnson would have never become Whoopi Goldberg. Emma gave her children the loving care and wisdom they needed to succeed in life, always encouraging them to be true to themselves. When Whoopi lost her mother in 2010—and then her older brother, Clyde, five years later—she felt deeply alone; the only people who truly knew her were gone. Emma raised her children not just to survive, but to thrive. In this intimate and heartfelt memoir, Whoopi shares many of the deeply personal stories of their lives together for the first time.

Whoopie G is the Best!!
Revisado: 06-25-24
Whoopie gets it. She’s one of the lucky ones who got to experience a special kind of bonding love with her mother and brother. Hearing her talk about her family was incredibly uplifting. I totally enjoyed every minute of this book. Hearing her joy and laughter as she read her own words was engaging and made me laugh too. Learning about why she is who she is was a glimpse into her life and I appreciate her letting me into her world for a little while.

Not my cup of tea. Thought it would go in a different direction but it just stalled out for me so I kept skipping ahead. I prefer a Christmas story that isn’t faith based.

Enjoyable
Revisado: 07-22-23
This is a great summer read but I had a little trouble keeping all the characters straight if I wasn’t giving the narration my full attention. 2 very different girls who grew up together, both who thought the other had a better life and how wrong they both were. A typical Judy Bloom easy read.

Not Bad
Revisado: 07-01-23
Logan, Paige and the girls made for an interesting premise but I thought there was something lacking. Logan and Paige needed to find a spouse, both for their own personal reasons, and while that’s always a fun read, I felt no spark with them or any if the characters. The performances of Stephen Dexter and Isabelle Ruther was fine, just not enough to bring any interest to an already bland story. This book is a fairly quick read, and while I finished it, I thought it was just…Okay, which disappointed me terribly. The book got some great reviews. I’m just trying to figure out why.

Historia
One of Andy Cohen’s most momentous years starts off with a hangover the morning after an epic New Year’s Eve broadcast. But Andy doesn’t have time to dwell on the drama, as his role as media mogul is now matched with the responsibilities, joys, and growing pains of parenthood. This fast-paced, mile-a-minute look behind the scenes of living the so-called glamorous life in Manhattan now takes firm aim at life at home.

Andy Cohen, Part Time Dad
Revisado: 06-24-23
First, I feel so sorry for those two babies that call him Daddy. I thought this book was about him growing up and being a father, not about him running around doing his life while nannies raise his children. I like Andy Cohen but he should never have had kids. He’s way to narcissistic to actually be a parent. Saying he spent “quality” time with his children, about sums it up. He needs to take a lesson from his friend Anderson Cooper on parenting. If you love Cohen’s bigger than life life, you’ll like this book. But as a parent, he sucks, and writes about it gleefully..

Some facts are indisputable. The sun rises in the east, sets in the west. Gravity exits. Indira doesn’t like Jude. Jude doesn’t like Indira. But what happens when these childhood enemies find the only thing they can rely on is each other? On paper, Indira has everything together. An amazing job, a boyfriend, and a car. What more could a late twenty-something ask for? But when she walks in on her boyfriend in an amorous embrace with a stranger, that perfect on paper image goes up in flames.

Not For Me
Revisado: 06-19-23
There was nothing about this story that actually held my attention. I slept through three quarters of it and was still able to finish it because nothing ever really happened. I love Joe Arden but even he seemed bored reading it. Jade Powers was, I think, new to me and she did a fine job as well. But their performance couldn’t pull the storyline out of the.. doldrums. I just couldn’t get into the main characters, at all, which was a shame because they both had potential at the start. The other characters were very nondescript. I should have believed the reviews so I’d still have my credit.

Historia
I have a big plan for my career and it most certainly doesn’t involve my ex. It definitely doesn’t entail working with him every day on a brand-new project for my jewelry line. And it absolutely doesn’t include falling for the man all over again. But the trouble is, he’s kind, charming, and so damn smart. Not to mention easy on the eyes. And thoughtful, too. Also, he wants to get to know me again. It’s a dizzying, delicious courtship, but I don’t know if my heart can handle this from the man who broke it to pieces once upon a time....

YAWN!!
Revisado: 06-17-23
This story is incredibly boring. The characters are flat and lifeless and I couldn’t begin to like either one of them. And don’t get me started on Emma Wilders breathy grating, gets on my nerves voice. I have never been a fan of her way of narrating. Her regular voice sounds fine and I don’t understand why she insists on doing that annoying breathy thing she does. The stars (and he actually gets 5) are totally for poor Zachary Webber who totally got lost in this whole awful storyline. I’m SMH at all the good reviews. I’d skip this one.

A Very Funny Ride!!!
Revisado: 04-01-23
First I HAVE to say that when I'm done listening to a book, I always read some of the reviews. The reviews for Kelly Ripa's Live Wire could be a book in themselves. It proves how ignorant and closed minded people can be. First, people didn't like her language. She warned everyone in the beginning so why did they read it? They surely didn't understand that this was NOT A MEMIOR or an autobiography. It was a collection of ESSAY'S or STORIES (except for the last chapter about her children), done TONGUE IN CHEEK. While her scenarios were all true, they were embellished with her Kelly Ripa sense of humor. It was giving you a glimpse into her life without really telling you too much, except when it came to her kids, which was extremely powerful. One bad review said, "it's all about her"...WHAT??? It's her book, isn't it? One bad said, "Too much Mark"... HUH???? He's her husband, isn't he??!!! Another bad one said, She's was full of herself because she had said she could "DO" so many things...SHE WAS KIDDING, PEOPLE!!! When she talked about Regis, she was kind enough to say it with as much humor as she could while we all know what a complete narcissistic piece of crap he was in real life (google it). AND, she was NOT his pick and he hated her being on HIS show. If you know, you know. So, if you take her humor for what it is, which is to entertain, and you understand that this book was not supposed to tell you secrets, then you'll enjoy it. And just for the record, NO ONE could have performed it like she (with Mark's help) did. She's fabulously witty and kind and real and she's a wonderful mother. Read this with an open mind and you'll enjoy the fun. I know I did.

Historia
Like many, Ali Wentworth spent the pandemic seesawing between highs, lows, and baking an unnecessary amount of chocolate cake. Between binging every tv show in existence to conquering TikTok to becoming a (semi) empty-nester, Ali experienced her share of turmoil (including an early case of COVID), but she also grew a little, learned a lot, and found comfort in some unexpected people and places. In Ali’s Well That Ends Well, Wentworth turns her gimlet eye to the year no one saw coming.

Not At All What I Was Expecting
Revisado: 02-15-23
I like Ali Wentworth. I think her humor is quick witted and she can be very funny. I guess I expected her book to be funny too. It wasn’t. At least for me. A lot of tongue in cheek humor for sure but it was like she was reading someone else’s book. She is the queen of embellishing a story and it was like this entire book was one long embellishment. She wanted to write a book about being in quarantine and she did. Maybe her other books are better.
