Perfect Plot Twists
Revisado: 04-09-25
Really enjoyed this “book” which is a series of podcasts strung together. Great voice acting and also, unexpected plot twists throughout kept me on the edge of my seat.

Two Life-Changing Words; A Must Read
Revisado: 04-06-25
“Let Them” should be required reading for all humans. However, that would defeat the purpose of “let them.” A fantastic book,—one that has certainly changed and bolstered my paradigm. And for all who wonder, it doesn’t stop at “let them,”— there is a “let me.” 5-plus stars. Well done, Mel!

Sad, Sadomasochistic; Rinse and Repeat
Revisado: 03-14-25
I tried, (I really, really did), to finish this story, as the reason I purchased it was because it was billed as a psychological thriller. After hours and hours and hours and hours of repetitious, sadistic sex scenes,—I just can’t take anymore. Maybe there’s a point to this book that I’m going to miss, but what I WON’T miss is hearing one more sexual encounter described, in detail, where someone ends up unable to go to work because they have bruises and they worry that maybe they’re abused but they love it so much,…yeah, you guessed it,—another abusive sexual encounter is just a page away. Wish I could get my money back on this one!

Couldn’t Countance
Revisado: 02-13-25
This wins the prize as the worst story I’ve ever attempted to listen to. Can’t take any more. Drivel, drivel, drivel to the point of distraction! I’m rating before finishing as I can’t take anymore. I’ve lost the plot in all of the distracting, word-filling drivel. If I could give this story negative stars, I would.

Really enjoyed this book. Had a bit of an Anne Hillerman feel to it, which was awesome. (I enjoy the Leaphorn/Chee mysteries!)

Another Rule Winner
Revisado: 09-01-24
Such a fan of Rule’s books. Thought I had already read this book,—however, as I live in San Antonio, I was remembering reading articles in our local newspaper. Horrific story,—however sometimes there is justice in this world; or at least as close as to it as humanly possible. This was one of those times. Other than a few interesting pronunciations on the part of the orator, (Boerne and Shavano), it was very well done.

Pederast Pedophiles Should Be Prosecuted; Not Praised!
Revisado: 10-09-23
What a devilish disappointment! Follett spins a tale involving a pedophile taking custody of a 6 year old child. Had a sinking sensation when the kiddy fiddler took possession of young Kit,—and later wanted to vomit when Follett creates a “love story” between the (formerly) 6-year old child and his (adult) “savior.” No, no and no!
This is the final Follett book I will ever read. Hey, Ken Follett,—you’re disgusting and sick by attempting to portray what started as child molestation as a “loving” relationship.
If you claim to know your Bible and “God’s word” as you write about, then surely you know “what is evil will be called good, and what is good will be called evil.”

Narrated by Old Smokey & Croaky
Revisado: 08-08-23
Wow! Never ever expected an AUDIO book to be narrated by someone who sounds as if they’ve smoked for years. Couldn’t get past the fact that somehow the narrator brought up images of an old and tough female smoker hanging out or working at a gas station/truck stop. It distracted from the story. Story line was worn out too.

Assisted Suicide & Heroin Users Apply Here!
Revisado: 07-26-23
If you’re into assisted suicide and hard drug use, (while under the guise of “loving family members and caring members of society”), then this is the book for you.
Author tries to even convert law enforcement into going along with assisted suicide and hard drug use. Interesting.
Personally, it’s not really my thing, so I wasn’t super impressed. I do understand that humans get sick and other humans want to euthanize them or perhaps they want to kill themselves.
However, we have a long way to go to change the paradigm regarding (assisted) suicide, which has been defined as a crime in many countries, to glorifying it as a “hero’s” exit.
I’m always left wondering about an author’s state of mind. Are they writing true fiction, or about their heart’s deepest desires?

I listened to the first book in this series and thought it was pretty good. This 2nd book is pretty much like the first; rinse and repeat. Creepy, psychologically damaged men who like to watch, torture, and finally kill women. I think I’ve had enough.
