Revisado: 12-16-20
Honestly....I felt like this was really fun as then at the end I was really disappointed with the way it wrapped up, enough to say that it wasn’t that good of a book.

Historia
It’s rumoured that Dickens wanted to return to his classic novel Oliver Twist, to bring him back into a later book as an older character, but he never managed this before he died. However, if Oliver had returned, what would he have been like? Would the scars of his childhood affect the man he would become? And what of ‘Dodger’, sent to a land halfway around the world, his friend, mentor and master dead because of Oliver? Dodge & Twist is that story. The tale of two boys, 12 years later, returning into each other’s lives - for both good and bad.

Great performance, okay story
Revisado: 02-11-20
While the performers did an exceptional job, the story seems contrived. There were some very unbelievable aspects of the story and even the way the characters felt about each other seemed exaggerated for sake of plot.

Great second book
Revisado: 01-03-20
This was a great continuation of the first story. It filled in some details on secondary characters which was nice to fill out the world a bit more. Again, the narration was amazing - leaving me to say that when my children read this book I will actually have them listen!

Edge of your seat
Revisado: 12-15-19
This was a great, fast-paced read. Despite it feeling quick and short, the depth of which the world was explained was immense. The performance made it over the top fantastic. When I decide my children are old enough for this series I will be playing the audiobook and not having them read the book because it is so amazing.

Perfect!
Revisado: 09-10-19
This story was so fun and the narrator did such a good job “being Poppy” that I didn’t want to stop listening. Even though the story takes place over a short period of time, it all seems so real and makes sense. Additionally, I think everyone deserves to have two brothers (or at least one) like Poppy (Re: Flight to Paris). Sadly this will probably become a bit dated as texting and technology advance but for those of use who have and are dating in text dominated society it has some rather poignant realness to it. Overall, fantastic.

Historia
Bono met his wife in high school, Park says. So did Jerry Lee Lewis, Eleanor answers. I’m not kidding, he says. You should be, she says, we’re 16. What about Romeo and Juliet? Shallow, confused, then dead. I love you, Park says. Wherefore art thou, Eleanor answers. I’m not kidding, he says. You should be. Set over the course of one school year in 1986, this is the story of two star-crossed misfits - smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try. When Eleanor meets Park, you’ll remember your own first love.

Remember your first with this book
Revisado: 08-22-16
Both the writing and the delivery by two actors gives this book the perfect punch of nostalgia to send you back high school. The moments between Park and Eleanor are so real that you have to believe the author is writing from a first hand experience - and you can recall your first time through these characters interactions.

Historia
Paen Scott is a Dark One: a vampire without a soul. And his mother is about to lose hers too if Paen can't repay a debt to a demon by finding a relic known as the Jilin God in five days. Half-elf Samantha Cosse may have gotten kicked out of the Order of Diviners, but she's still good at finding things, which is why she just opened her own private investigation agency. Paen is one of Sam's first clients and the only one to set her elf senses tingling, which makes it pretty much impossible to keep their relationship on a professional level.

Bad Narrator And Bad Story
Revisado: 11-29-15
First - the narrator makes it sound like the lead character is a old maid who shouldn't be in this story at all. Sorry but I just can't make stories like these work when I think of the lead as a 40+ year-old.
Second - why did the stories leave the Eastern European them? The vampires being Scottish made no sense. Plus, how much additional lore did the author fit into this book that I feel like hasn't come up in past ones. I also liked how previously every story linked slightly together with one or two characters but this book comes from left field and didn't feel like it fit.
Overall, I'm not sure I'll be going on to the next since it seems a risk now.

Historia
Zack Lightman has never much cared for reality. He vastly prefers the countless science-fiction movies, books, and videogames he's spent his life consuming. And too often, he catches himself wishing that some fantastic, impossible, world-altering event could arrive to whisk him off on a grand spacefaring adventure.

Another Hit
Revisado: 08-09-15
This book had me at the blue milk reference. I could not put this title down as I was constantly waiting to hear what happened next or catch the next one liner from the main character Zach Lightman (you have to love a good last name that implies sci-fi skill). While some plot points were a bit predictable it didn't change the enjoyment level. And especially interesting is how the ending didn't wrap a nice predictable bow on it, and I'm not just referring to the Epilogue but to the final chapter as well. It was written in a good sci-fi thriller style that while never scary, did make you hold your breath at moments. Additionally, the story is packed with great references and endearing characters that you wish were your friends.
If you enjoy watching science fiction, you will certainly enjoy this book. If Cline's Ready Player One is a tribute to video game culture then Armada is a tribute to science fiction culture.
