Narration was gorgeous! I've never heard of the one narrator (for Ellory) and was honestly blown away by their performance. Kevin R Free was nice to listen to and I'm always glad to hear his voice.

FT Lukens is a one click author for me. I own all their audiobooks, usually using a credit to preorder when I have the option. I also own the series not available in audiobook format so, yeah, I love this author.

Unfortunately, I did not love this book. It had some great qualities - likeable characters, interesting plot, immersive world building, nice balance- but the author lost me at the frat party with Hale. The purpose was to get a favor from the guy but ick... then IMMEDIATELY afterwards it was Nox's turn. Nah. I've come to expect better from this author.

Low angst
Second Chance
Forced proximity
Bi-awakening
Best friends to lovers
Mature Men (late 40s)

If you make it through the prologue without falling apart even a tiny bit then you and I are going to have words! God, I love Asa's bi-awakening. Realizing you're bi because you're in love with your best friend should be on everyone's Bi BINGO card. And Scott's reaction? Yeah, I get that too... So, the crying is unavoidable if you ask me.

There are a lot of things to love about this story. One of the best is how all the hard stuff is dealt with in the beginning. The next best is how we get to see Coach being his awesome self with his son, his team, and his best friend. It's romantic and happy and everything I want for him. Lots of love, lots of football. It's incredible.

The narration was really spot on. I read the book a few times before the audio came out and was honestly a bit worried. But this exceeded all my expectations. The voices were distinct, character personalities shone through, the pace was nice, and the story was alive. I was especially pleased with Asa and Scott. Both men have southern accents- Asa's a bit deeper south than Scott's- which was a dream to hear. Darcy Stark did an incredible job with my favorite book.

Butterflies. This entire story I had nothing but butterflies. No worries, no fears, no confusion. This story is so full of fond and affectionate looks, honesty, and love. The communication, too, between Micah and Beck has set the bar so high for every other romance I will ever read, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do now. Where am I supposed to go from here? How will anything ever compare?

This has been so GD swoony and romantic. And hot. I'll admit, I sometimes skip the spicy parts in audiobooks but nothing compares to hearing Micah Rose beg. Except hearing Micah Rose say "I love you" every chance he gets. Yeah, that's probably my favorite part. They say I love you just over halfway through the story and they keep on saying it! I rewound a few times so I could hear the I love yous again and again. I might even go back and bookmark a few, who knows.

What I do know is I finished this fairly long audiobook in less than 3 days while still working and parenting because I just couldn't live my life without it. Not only is the story amazing but the narration is perfect. Everything nicely paced and consistent. The voices were distinct, well modulated, and clear, and the personality and emotions were portrayed so well I had heart eyes the whole time.

I highly recommend listening if you want to get the full Beckett West Husband Experience. 10/10.

This book was lovely to hear. I really liked Nick J Russo's performance for not only the voices but the gentleness of each character. He made everything FIT if that makes sense.

The story unpacked quite a bit, honestly. There's a lot of subject matter and it was handled nicely. The romance was sweet, as were the men, and I appreciated how they handled a lot of their personal struggles. Both men had some demons to face and trust to build so the story is a bit of a slow burn which felt very appropriate.

Book-

Wade and Tristan are both genuinely nice guys who are attending summer training camp (preseason football thing) as first year draft picks. Tristan is out and proud whereas Wade knows he's bisexual but has never acted on it. They are assigned a room together and as they get to know one another, they not only develop feelings but they also build up one another regarding their talent and self esteem. The way they treated each other was honestly my favorite part.

Nice guys and a solid plot built around football and love- as always, Beth worked her magic and made me love a book about a sport I have zero interest in actually watching. This book introduced all the heroes for The Piranhas series without distracting from Wade and Tristan's romance.

Performance-

I loved this so much! I read the book prior to listening so I already knew the story was fabulous but listening was such a great experience! The performance of this book definitely delivered. Wade's accent, Tristan's cheekiness, and all the sweetness I loved from the story were done perfectly. Nothing felt rushed or exaggerated or out of place.

And oh lordy, I cannot tell you how spot on Coach Asa's Alabama accent is! I'm already stalking Audible for the release of that audiobook because I know it's going to sound amazing!

Overall, I enjoyed and would recommend the audiobook.

Slow Burn (-ish)

Holy guacamole. Marcos' voice is the best thing I have ever heard and I listen to several audiobooks a week. It is so low and gruff and gravely without that tough guy, alpha male undertone. Like Batman but without Bruce Wayne's nonsense. **shivers while trying not to swoon** Guys, seriously, it's perfect.

The performance of this book is fantastic. I enjoyed the first book but when comparing the two I can't even pretend that I didn't notice the difference. This narrator has obviously become more comfortable with himself and it shows. I've already listened to this book twice and will definitely listen again in the future.

I am a hopeless romantic and this story gives me ALL THE BEST FEELINGS! Marcos and Evander are immortal and not on the best terms (in Evander's mind) but that doesn't stop them from working together when the kingdom needs them. Ohmygod I cannot even express how much I love the slow burn feel of this story even though it's not as dragged out as it could be. Marcos has been in love with Evander for a thousand years. A THOUSAND YEARS and he is still as unwavering in his feelings today as he was a century ago. I am not a fan of pining because my heart can't handle it, but it is such a beautiful thing here. Even though we met Evander in the first book and I really liked him as a father-figure, I absolutely adore him after seeing him through Marcos' eyes. Then we add the trust-building, character development, quest, and conflict to the building romance and it's just an incredibly well-developed fantasy. I especially like how the conflict in this book included the conflict of the last book. I expected it but I did not expect the way it was done which only added to my enjoyment.

This duet is definitely on the top of my Beth Bolden A-list. And Marcos? Well, I loved him when I read the book so it just makes sense that the narration solidified my utter adoration for the sweetest guardian of all time.

CWs- death of parents, mild violence

I can easily say I enjoyed this performance, even if it was not perfect. The character voices were distinct and likeable, the emotion was there when needed, and the accents were great (to my little American ears). The book is in third person POV so the narration bit did sound a little like getting read to at times, but not bland enough to remove me from the story. However, I imagine it is difficult to move between voices and accents without some concentration, so I don't hold this against the narrator at all.
***In fact, there is a TON of improvement between this book and the next. I listened to them back-to-back and it's obvious the performer has grown a lot between then and now. I enjoyed this book but wow am I blown away by the next. I'm already relistening to it :)

I love low angst, sweet books with adventure so this story ticks a lot of my boxes. Magic, quest, nice guys, some steamy moments, some swoony moments, character growth and a lot of world building that unfolds with the story. I also love Evrard and found myself getting all nostalgic over the "father-type" role he embodied. Grey is a total grump but he's a total softie at his core and Rory is a sweet academic who only needs to be rescued because he's not prepared for these things, not because he's some damsel in distress. Two very different men raised in two different environments who complement one another in so many different ways.

Just a really well done story brought to life by the narration. I absolutely recommend it.

This has great world building for an urban fantasy. The magic and history of the relics, the meaning and motivation of people and items, and the overall idea that magical people are living amongst us without the plot focusing on the danger of humans all kept me interested and invested. The characters are likable, the snark is not over the top, and the romance is sweet.

CW - please see bottom as it's a bit of a spoiler

I really enjoyed this. Two cinnamon rolls in love. One happens to be the childhood crush (famous athlete) of the other and when they meet they're both in new phases of their lives. A transition for each that they must learn to navigate and understand together.

The cuddler/cuddlee aspect was well explained but I feel anyone who did not read the first book might be confused and miss the gravity of the situation. The burrowing bond that foxes form isn't explained as thoroughly as it probably should be. Since these are stand alones, then anyone reading this won't understand that a fox who does not take an entire month to form that bond won't get the mate bond with their chosen individual at all. In other words, each pair only gets one chance to bond and if that bond doesn't take for any reason then that's it- no waiting til next year or trying to live with one another without the bond. That's crucial information I don't recall being given in this book.

So... it's pretty low on the cuddling for a cuddle themed story. Is that a terrible thing to feel disappointed about? Maybe not for most but I think it's best if you adjust your expectations if you're anything like me. I'm a lover of slow burns so I thought this book was going to hit every one of my buttons. Don't get me wrong, it's great, but I feel a little bereft after finishing. The focus was more on building sexual tension by preventing the protagonists from having sex instead of building it by having them utilize some self control while cuddling. I also wish the last few chapters had been... more romantic and less smexy? It's a weird complaint but it felt, to me, that the beginning of the book was a few days of getting to know one another filled with sexual tension then the rest of the book was just *smut mixed with telling us things rather than showing us* until the babies were born. I like smut but I do prefer that beautiful achy warmth that comes from feeling love through the eyes of someone else.

Content Warning-- consensual nonconsent occurs. This is a role play when partners consent to engage in sex where they pretend it's not consensual. I admit to being caught off guard for a minute since I wasn't expecting it in such a sweet story and I am one of those individuals who needs CWs for **reasons**

Edit to add- it's been a few days and I've managed to put into words what bothered me about the CNC- lack of communication. There was never a discussion of this role play before it happened, and it was very much in the moment. One individual had had time beforehand to think about what he wanted but the other was never given proper time to consider the dynamic and determine how he felt prior to having it sprung on him mid sex. Unacceptable. If I'm going to ask my partner to pretend to be a r@pist, then it should happen outside the bedroom where they have the opportunity to think things through and consent properly. Saying 'I want...' while already joined at the hips is pretty unfair. How do they say no without ruining things? How do they know they'll be just as into it when rational thinking comes back into play ? A discussion would have allowed everyone, reader included, to consider the ramifications of the role play and consent properly. While I appreciate the implication that a safe word was available for the sub, I don't recall anything about the Dom having a safe word. Mutual consent is a key factor in role play (BDSM/kink) and the lack of such care along with the lack of mental preparation for such a scene has left a bad taste in my mouth.

I love this book so I purchased the audiobook as soon as I could. The clueless hero character type is a favorite of mine and this book did it perfectly. Is there miscommunication? Yes, but it's low key and didn't feel remotely angsty. The wanting is barely pining which I also appreciated. Some sarcasm and snark, lovely characters, and a plot that truly kept me interested from beginning to end. A YA romcom I will be relistening to often.
