Not What I Expected, But It WAS What I Needed

Would you listen to Building a Healthy Self-Image again? Why?

Yes. I need to be reminded of my potential. Hearing someone who has excelled say that I can do the same is a great help. I love Zig's stories, his delivery and the sprinkling of research findings and quotes he includes in his speeches. I thought this would include his instructions for writing down all the good things you can think of about yourself and picking a few of them to say to yourself each day, but it didn't. I was surprised, but not disappointed because the speech was still really good. When it was over I felt much better about myself and the future.

What did you like best about this story?

The stories help me remember the principles. I really like that the stories are true.

What about Zig Ziglar’s performance did you like?

His energy and honesty.

What did you learn from Building a Healthy Self-Image that you would use in your daily life?

Knowing what to do does not make up for knowing that you can do it. Zig's recount of how he went from below average performance to stellar performance after seeing himself differently makes me look at my own thoughts and performance. It explains in part why I don't live up to my potential in many areas.

Any additional comments?

One of the best things to me about Zig is that he was always clean, straightforward and funny. There is no foul language or coarse innuendo. I can listen to his material anywhere without worry, even with my kids. Some people teach good business or self improvement techniques, but encourage lying, selfishness or cut throat tactics. Others are pretty honest, but never touch on spiritual and moral issues. Zig Ziglar was wonderful because his devotion to God was evident in his speeches. The traits he encouraged and displayed were Christian through and through. I'm very thankful for all he did during his lifetime.
