Jen Sincero for President of my Life!
Revisado: 01-13-23
I love this chick’s energy and mindset. I’ve read a few of her book by now (and purchased the physical copies so I can complete the worksheets). I listen to these books while working around my house and in my studio. I truly feel the difference in my life since discovering Ms. Sincero’s work.

Had to buy the physical book
Revisado: 01-13-23
This book frustrated me because, as I drove and listened, I felt the urge to pull over many times
to take notes. I ended up buying the actual book as a reference, but not before finishing the audio book. The narrators voice is a trip, she reminded me of a dramatic stage actor, but that just added to my delight.

Oh Austin, you dear magnificent soul. I so enjoyed his take on all things. I generally like books like these ones (The War of Art by Steven Pressfield is the gold standard), which work in small chapters and jump around a little in subject matter but with a central theme. If you’ve ever seen these books in person, they’re a jumbled collection of art, graphic lettering, and paragraphs of text. Austin does a good job here of reading the books in a linear fashion, and his voice is adorable :)

I’m proud to say that I finished this book
Revisado: 01-13-23
I listened to this almost entirely in one go- I couldn’t turn it off! It was a Sunday, and I was cleaning and re-organizing my entire house, as well as meal prepping for the upcoming week, thanking of ways to get my art business off the ground. I wish that I could have this going on a loop as I completed all of life’s tasks. Great motivation and solid, easy to follow instructions.

Loved Dr. Mate’s take
Revisado: 01-13-23
Dr. Mate provides a comprehensive and neutral summation of the nature of addiction. As someone who is myself in recovery, I resonated with so much of his assessment of the addicted mind. Nothing is so cut and dry; addicts aren’t inherently evil and hedonistic people, and either or they entirely victims of heredity, upbringing, and circumstance. The truth is grey and foggy and lies somewhere in the middle, and Dr Mate does a great job of offering both his first hand accounts, and the science to explain just how and why this is the case.
