Historia
Long neglected in world history, the Ottoman Empire was a hub of intellectual fervor, geopolitical power, and enlightened pluralistic rule. Yet, despite its towering influence and centrality to the rise of our modern world, the Ottoman Empire's history has for centuries been distorted, misrepresented, and even suppressed in the West. Now Alan Mikhail presents a vitally needed recasting of Ottoman history, retelling the story of the Ottoman conquest of the world through the dramatic biography of Sultan Selim I (1470-1520).

Historia
Richard Henry Dana, a law student turned sailor for health reasons, sailed in 1834 aboard the brig Pilgrim on a voyage from Boston around Cape Horn to California. Drawing from his journals, Two Years Before the Mast gives a vivid and detailed account, shrewdly observed and beautifully described, of a common sailor's wretched treatment at sea, and of a way of life virtually unknown at that time.

Historia
If anyone could be considered a Russian counterpart to the infamous British double-agent Kim Philby, it was Oleg Gordievsky. The son of two KGB agents and the product of the best Soviet institutions, the savvy, sophisticated Gordievsky grew to see his nation's communism as both criminal and philistine. He took his first posting for Russian intelligence in 1968 and eventually became the Soviet Union's top man in London, but from 1973 on he was secretly working for MI6.

Chapter 10 is Most Impressive
Revisado: 12-23-18
Throughout this book, the paranoia and mistrust of the KGB is consistently expressed.
Here are 3 reasons that makes Chapter 10 most impressive:
The events related to Able Archer, and how Gordievsky practically saved the world from a Nuclear attack is
Monumentally Impressive!
MI6 and Margret Thatcher depended on the information transferred to by Gordievsky, to avoid the collapse of the Soviet Union, and allow Gorbachev to keep the Soviet Union afloat.
It is hard not to shake your head in shame when they reiterate the fact that in the 1980s, Moscow meddled in the UK elections. It seems somethings will never change.
Mr. Gordievsky, Here's to You !!
