Historia
David Mitchell, who you may know for his inappropriate anger on every TV panel show except Never Mind the Buzzcocks, his look of permanent discomfort on C4 sex comedy Peep Show, his online commenter-baiting in The Observer or just for wearing a stick-on moustache in That Mitchell and Webb Look, has written a book about his life.

Historia
Ahren and his companions journey on to Evergreen, finding new courage after the traumas of the Green Sea. Setting off, then, to traverse the continent in search of the missing Paladin Yollock, it isn't long before they find themselves sucked into a maelstrom of adventures involving a woman who has been robbed, a desperate Cape Verstaad grandee, not to mention a cutthroat city which proves itself a veritable nest of ne'er-do-wells. Controlled by the brilliant assassin Reik Silvermantle, this hub of lawlessness and immorality presents Ahren and his friends with one of their greatest challenges.

Great story great read
Revisado: 06-14-23
Don’t let the cranky people piss in your Cheerios. Some people can’t adjust to change and take any opportunity to spit vitriol at people. I too was apprehensive when I noticed the narrator changed. However Stewart Crank has a pleasant voice and did a terrific job bringing the characters and story to life. My only complaint is that it takes longer to write a book than read one and I want to know what happens next. Stewart and Hakanu were two new young people I met in this tale and I look forward to what they’ll both bring next.

Historia
After decades of internecine warfare, the tribes of the Tiste Edur have at last united under the Warlock King of the Hiroth. There is peace - but it has been exacted at a terrible price: a pact made with a hidden power whose motives are at best suspect, at worst, deadly. To the south, the expansionist kingdom of Lether, eager to fulfill its long-prophesized renaissance as an Empire reborn, has enslved all its less-civilized neighbors with rapacious hunger. All, that is, save one - the Tiste Edur. And it must be only a matter of time before they too fall.

Incredible series but
Revisado: 03-28-23
As above, incredible series well written and epic in its scope. In listening to the audiobook I am finding much I missed in my initial read a decade ago. However the narration is not great, it is fine but in comparison to the first three books it is a difficult letdown. Every character is either a gravely voiced monster or a posh melodramatic caricature of a lowland Scott noble.

Historia
The ravaged continent of Genabackis has given birth to a terrifying new empire: the Pannion Domin. Like a tide of corrupted blood, it seethes across the land, devouring all. In its path stands an uneasy alliance: Onearm’s army and Whiskeyjack’s Bridgeburners alongside their enemies of old - the forces of the Warlord Caladan Brood, Anomander Rake and his Tiste Andii mages, and the Rhivi people of the plains. But ancient undead clans are also gathering; the T’lan Imass have risen.

Historia
The Malazan Empire simmers with discontent, bled dry by interminable warfare, bitter infighting and bloody confrontations with the formidable Anomander Rake and his Tiste Andii, ancient and implacable sorcerers. Even the imperial legions, long inured to the bloodshed, yearn for some respite. Yet Empress Laseen's rule remains absolute, enforced by her dread Claw assassins.

Historia
Success at last! Ahren and his companions have revived the alliance of the Jorathian peoples. But there is little time for celebration, for while the defensive ring around the Pall Cloud is being strengthened with Dwarfish assistance, Ahren and his friends are already on their way to answer the Wrath Elves' cry for help in the Forest of Ire, from within whose depths mysterious dangers are threatening to destroy the Elven forest and all life forms within it. Time is running out.

What a great series
Revisado: 12-02-22
Not only is this a wonderful series but the narrator’s performance was dramatically exiting and heart warming. I also want to praise the translator who kept the fantasy feel and the characters like good friends who I could always get behind. The dialogue feels real and without the awkwardness or stoic aloofness of other translated works I have read. I hope the Green Sea is available for audio soon.

Historia
Time is running out for Ahren as he and Khara leave their companions under cover of darkness and make their way to the Eternal Empire. The Pall Cloud is spreading relentlessly, yet the full complement of 13 Paladins have still not gathered together. But the couple are finding it impossible to find a way through to the notoriously draconian and reclusive empress, and all their attempts to enlist her support in the war against the Adversary seem doomed to failure once Ahren falls into the clutches of Quin-Wa's Peace Sentinels.

Wonderful series
Revisado: 11-14-22
This is classic high fantasy that leans into the tropes but with a unique twist and a well crafted world. The characters and dialogue are charming and believable. I would have expected much more awkward moments in a translated work of fiction. Even the humor lands. The performance and the writing complement each other to create a wonderful experience and I can’t wait for the next episode. In fact it is downloaded and ready in my queue.

Wonderful story and beautiful prose
Revisado: 08-05-22
As an American I came to know Richard from comedy panel shows like QI, HIGNFY and WILTY. I saw him on Graham Norton and said oh I got to see what that’s all about. The characters are so real and the dialogue is funny and natural seeming. The mystery is definitely a nail biter. I already bought book 2 and preordered book 3. I sent my 95 year old mom a copy and she’s loving it also. This is definitely not “Pointless”.

Historia
Centuries in the past, mankind fought a seemingly unbeatable adversary from sector to sector across the Spiral Arm until the war ground to a standstill and the Enemy withdrew. Believing that they had won, the citizens of the galaxy rebuilt. The Inner Worlds, which had escaped the worst of the war's ravages, became even more insular, while the Rim worlds adopted a free and easy way with law and order. Now, hundreds of years after their withdrawal, the Enemy is back - and this time they'll be satisfied with nothing less than the extinction of the galaxy.

Historia
When COVID-19 sweeps through New York City, Jamie Gray is stuck as a dead-end driver for food-delivery apps. That is, until Jamie makes a delivery to an old acquaintance, Tom, who works at what he calls “an animal rights organization”. Tom’s team needs a last-minute grunt to handle things on their next field visit. Jamie, eager to do anything, immediately signs on. What Tom doesn't tell Jamie is that the animals his team cares for are not here on Earth. Not our Earth, at at least. In an alternate dimension, dinosaur-like creatures named Kaiju roam a warm and human-free world.

Fun book, fun performance
Revisado: 04-04-22
This is a silly premise taken seriously that worked far above my expectations. As the author says it’s a pop song of a book, and that’s exactly what I needed. This is the second story Wil Wheaton has read to me, and was the stellar performance that I was expecting. Thank you both, John and Wil for a very fun ride across dimension time and space.
