I live in Gloucester, near Mathews and loved this. I am a navy veteran and that helped me relate to it on another level.

If you are looking for entertainment, watch the Midway movie. If you want to know what REALLY happened, listen to this audiobook. The authors have researched the battle in such detail it approaches boredom at times. It is a story of blunders at the highest levels of command....on BOTH sides of the battle and the heroic efforts of the sailors and aviators as they struggled to fight and survive. This book revises some of the history we previously believed about the Japanese side of the battle.

I love the writing of Diana Gabaldon, especially the Outlander series but apparently we do not share similar taste in Sci Fi stories. Perhaps I prefer more traditional Sci Fi and this is the leading edge of the genre. In any event, I was glad when it finally ended!

I am interested in genealogy and have discovered some wonderful "cousins" through DNA testing. In this case, the author had an unexpected shock when her DNA didn't match her family tree. She stalked the source of her DNA and discovered another family. I enjoyed the story of her journey but felt that some of the details might have been edited out. This story raised a lot of ethical questions about fertility clinics and sperm and egg donors that remain unresolved. Early in the story, the author seemed devastated to discover she was only part Jewish but eventually accepted that she was part of three families instead of two as she had always believed.
