Way too long… cut 1/3 of it out and it’s the same story

The booked initially sucked me but then it was more of the same. Wasn’t even a twist on the end. It’s time that I can’t get back but I did hang in there til the end.

Beautiful cover and writing but very slow and boring.

The idea of the book and writing is good. How Meryl Streep and Reese Witherspoon got behind this is beyond me. I’m left knowing I must be more discerning with the Reese book stamp now, bummer. The book felt like a week at grandma’s house, quiet. simple, not much to tell or share about in terms of highlights. I hung in there for the whole thing but a pretty forgettable book.

This story seemed so fun… I just decided to abandon it though - and I had about an hour left to listen. I’m
crying uncle. Two good things: Performance is pretty good. Sentences are put together well, not a fifty shades situation. But two things are not good: The pacing and time spent on Louise learning tarot cards and how they played into the story had way too much weight. Mostly though, you have a strong female character with a good backstory and a very flat male ‘lead’. She’s into him because ‘I’m so flattered the cute guy who every girl thinks is hot likes me.. he’s really into little ole me?’ Skin deep. Not a cool or ideal relationship to read about in what should’ve been an easy breezy romance. Maybe things change in the last hour if the book? But I’m not gonna be around to find out.

West is my favorite of ALL her books in all her series. The Ravenals is the most perfect series with Ethan Ransom and Tom Severin making cameos in this one and the way they are all intertwined is perfection. Phoebe is adorable how she comes alive on this one, because of meeting West. Their chemistry is perfection.
