Brilliant!
Revisado: 09-02-15
This book has a free form that is rare in books. It is its own thing. It makes no excuses for itself and what is truly great is that it is not 'in your face humor'. None of the characters are trying to be funny, but are in spite of themselves by just being themselves. There is no hand-holding and events described earlier in the book come back later for some sort of explanation, but often as life itself, you might or might not find that satisfying. I do. It is brilliantly funny. Heller has been a real student of humanity and has captured many people who sadly, perhaps, are real enough around us if we care to look. It is a very personal work, no doubt, but one many can nod in recognition to and laugh at the strangeness, hopelessness and wonder of life.
As for the narrator, Jay O. Sanders, then he does a great job with conveying the sarcasm with a straight face, which for sure is how the humor is intended, and his voices are excellent.
Top marks all around!

Historia
Churchill: A Life follows Winston Churchill from his earliest days to his moments of triumph. Here, the drama and excitement of his story are ever-present. Martin Gilbert gives us a vivid portrait, using Churchill's most personal letters and the recollections of his contemporaries, both friends and enemies, to go behind the scenes of some of the stormiest and most fascinating political events of our time.

Amazing
Revisado: 10-27-13
Christian Rodska is simply amazing narrating this book - as always, and must certainly rank in the elite voices. He does many accents, and a very good American accent, which is actually rare, and so well done. The book itself is superbly written and moves at a good pace. Good job.

Just like remembered
Revisado: 11-27-11
Swan Song is an epic book about a fictional aftermath to nuclear holocaust. Even though it was written at a time where war seemed very real, it hasn't aged nor lost some of it's point of what I would consider an optimistic view on post disaster. The characters are well-defined, and you care about them. The villains are threatening, and not the sort of villains you would root for in any way, which is good; they are simply scary and merciless - there to sweep up the remnants of war.
Hopefully now, Audible will work on other McCammon books, and in unabridged versions. The narrator does well, although his reading of female dialogue can be a little flat, though strangely overdone, in a monotone high-pitch. That being that, though, is very well done overall, if that is the only personal gripe. Good job.
