Corrupted. This is the word that has defined Yu since her infancy. Her God Sign is corrupted and so she is a cultivator without cultivation. Frail and sickly, Yu is the only descendant of her mighty warrior lineage to live without strength, without purpose. She is a stain on the honor of her family, an embarrassment to her prestigious clan. Hidden away, Yu comes to live with the constant scorn and ridicule of her peers. She is bullied, beaten, and bloodied. But she is never broken. She dreams of one day proving herself worthy.

Unbearable clan leadership
Revisado: 10-23-24
Don't know if it's just weaten/eastern differences but the neglect, Stupidity and abuse of the clans leadership feels so forced, unfair and predictable. like the author could only come up with conflict if the patriarch why blind deaf and stupid, like yeah he has superpowers, but can't recognize systemic abuse, has a stark misogyny as he explodes at his daughter asking a reasonable question but patiently explains to his sons when they yell, spit and are obviously trying to kill his daughter. claims to keep her imprisoned to "keep her safe" then just let's three murder attempts go right next to him, his reasonable response? let's put a target and her back infront of 3 million people. It's absolutely unbearable to listen to, like just look up "conflict" and you can find a million ways to do it better.

Historia
Arthur Leywin knew well the cold terror of war. Yet, in his past life as King Grey, he had never lost a friend, mentor, or loved one; he had none to lose. Now, though, Arthur must accept that even those closest to him must take up arms to defend their homes as the enemy force seeks new methods to strike at the heart of Dicathen. In his quest to stop the approaching army, Arthur must travel to the dwarven kingdom of Darv, gain mastery of the four elements, battle some of the Vritra’s mightiest champions, and overcome a grievous betrayal.

Dropped twice
Revisado: 09-01-24
This is the second time I've listened through the story to drop it on this book, the MC is a pushover who never takes initiative and blame himself for everything. Half the people he interacts with are unreasonable and he just takes it, but the thing that killed the story for me is how it's slowed to a crawl. Narrator is amazing as always.

Even the Blackflame Empire is drawn in, but their youth are not strong enough to compete. Yet. To temper and test them, the Akura clan throws all the elites of the Blackflame Empire into a lush training ground. There, training will be much faster and more rewarding.

Monotonous
Revisado: 07-20-24
So the story goes like this: his clan is out to get him, a sect he joins is out to get him, where he runs away is out to get him, new self assigned nemesis #1-4 is out to get him. The strongest entities in the universe purposefully screw him over, the army he joins purposefully screws him over, the clan that runs the continent constantly screw him over. Almost everyone he meets either Hates him, disrespect him or most just try to kill him. He just takes it, never holds a grudge, always tries to let people go. and all this would be fine except the fights take Forever, like TWO hours forever. I almost never fast forward through audiobooks but this one is just excruciating.

'And everything is finally alright'?
Revisado: 05-21-24
This is the most thought provoking series I have ever listened to. So dark and twisted and complicated, characters you care for and hate and desperately want to be okay.
I finished this a few days ago and I keep finding myself thinking about the beautifully broken situations and the people who caused it and suffered from it and tried to make it better even as they make it worse.
It's a masterpiece and I applaud you.

Casting necromancy without ever learning how to isn't supposed to be possible. A starving orphan girl named Vita is somehow managing it anyway, and she's not sure if this is going to be the solution to her life's problems or a horrifying, spiraling mess of problems she can hardly conceive.

Lullaby to morbid curiosity
Revisado: 05-15-24
This reads like a children's lullaby, a facade of innocence and childlike wonder over a core of true horror. Vivid grey conundrums lead to morbid curiosity for how dark it will go, and it just keeps descending.
