Historia
When Allegra Huston was four years old, her mother was killed in a car crash. Soon afterward, she was introduced to an intimidating man wreathed in cigar smoke - the legendary film director John Huston - with the words, “This is your father”. At the heart of Love Child is Allegra’s search for the widely adored mother she never knew - and also a search for where she herself belongs. Allegra grew up in a fragmented, contradictory family: an only child with many siblings; not unwanted, but a perennial problem to be solved.

I cried ... seriously touching memoir...
Revisado: 01-24-25
Allegra's honesty and emotional intelligence are palpable in every nuance and story she recounts about her complicated life of privilege and loneliness. Every word comes from her heart. Her metaphors, analogies, and descriptions are dense with flavor, scent, and delicacy. I was never bored, not for a moment, and I've read dozens and dozens of memoirs. People's lives are fascinating journeys of self-discovery. Their challenges, triumphs, and sufferings are universal, human, beyond class, privilege, underprivileged, nationality or levels of intelligence/beauty/good luck, bad luck.... it's all a school to the heart, to love. Allegra Huston's life, one might pre-judge as privileged and outside of everyday hardships, levels all of us. Thank you. What a pleasure and heart-opening story you tell.

Historia
Alexandra Auder’s life began at the Chelsea Hotel—New York City’s infamous bohemian hangout—when her mother, Viva, a longtime resident of the hotel and one of Andy Warhol’s superstars, went into labor in the lobby. These first moments of Alexandra’s life, documented by her filmmaker father, Michel Auder, portended the whirlwind childhood and teen years that she would go on to have. At the center of it all is Viva: a glamorous, larger-than-life woman with mercurial moods.

Tighten Your Seatbelts
Revisado: 05-13-23
I was riveted for the entire story. Her intelligence and coping skills are drawn out in colorful detail Alexandra balances and manages all the balls in the air of her extraordinary out-of-the-box life and her full spectrum brilliant mother. Brutally honest, shameless … bravo!!! Captures NYC in the 70’s and 80’s, and others locales. Loved every chapter.. what a movie this will make!

Historia
For decades, Demi Moore has been synonymous with celebrity. From iconic film roles to high-profile relationships, Moore has never been far from the spotlight - or the headlines. Even as Demi was becoming the highest paid actress in Hollywood, however, she was always outrunning her past. Throughout her rise to fame and during some of the most pivotal moments of her life, Demi battled addiction, body image issues, and childhood trauma that would follow her for years - all while juggling a skyrocketing career and at times negative public perception.

wow
Revisado: 07-14-19
This story is so compelling on so many levels. The narrator is wonderful. It gets annoying at times due to how repetitive it is in many places but understandably part of the style which draws you way into the torment of this family. Educational and eye-opening about the ways crimes against children and women are not taken as seriously as they should. Consider how long people get away with peddling girls al la Epstein.. The corruption of both the police and the press; compounded with the hunger of the readers of tabloid newspapers drive this insensitivity, injustices and in competencies are revealed in a very skillful and engaging style. I highly recommend this book.

Historia
Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University.
