Everything I Wanted

Story was seamlessly woven together with beautiful prose and well defined characters. Narration was top notch. Just complicated enough that I couldn’t see what was coming, but also didn’t try too hard. I listened in two days.

It’s wasn’t predictable which I liked, but some of the male voices were grating. Also there were parts that were a little hallmark-y but kudos to h the author for originality.

Wowowowowow

Ok so I have listened to over 1200 audiobooks and this is in my top 20. Nina is a force. She’s the prototype of a cool girl, a cool smart creative girl. One who is willing to share the darkest parts of herself and, unapologetically, her remarkable strengths and advantages. This book has me buzzing and feeling a little ashamed that I can’t live like her, love like her, think, function, or play like her. She’s a kind of punk goddess. I’m not worthy!

Ridiculous

If just one minute was believable I could maybe get down with it. It was well narrated and performed but so silly. I like the premise just wish it was more subtle and believable.

Close to Great

If you’re looking for a narrator who can do accents and/or multi-gender voices then buy the book. She grew on me but I found her droning in the beginning. Story is utterly original, worth the read. Tight, unusual, just something tiny missing…..but really really good!

What the Heck?

I have never read a more vindictive trashing of a human. Any attempts seem fair by dropping unrelated compliments were awkward and contrived. I don’t know why people can’t see her as human. Ambitious? Maybe, so what? Perfect? Nope. Are you? I know I’m not. Listen this is NOT Wallis 2.0. If anyone tried to smear 3/4 of us they could dig up plenty. I bought the book to see if she was really such a horrible person. All I got was a book about an earnestly consistent, ambitious actress who put herself out there and got the life she wanted. This is so much more about Royalist va American values. She made a deal with the devil and this was the result but my god, she’s not Satan!

One of my favorite authors just confused the heck out of me. So trite and moral and predictable. Such a clumsy effort at feminism. Also if you don’t like tennis. A lot… forget it.
