Historia
Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this piercing work distills 3,000 years of the history of power into 48 well-explicated laws. This bold volume outlines the laws of power in their unvarnished essence, synthesizing the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, Carl von Clausewitz, and other infamous strategists. The 48 Laws of Power will fascinate any listener interested in gaining, observing, or defending against ultimate control.

I'm not sure what I'm missing...
Revisado: 07-10-23
I've heard great things about this book. I was looking forward to amazing insights. What I got was a book about deceiving and manipulating others. If that's what power is, I don't want it.

Too smug
Revisado: 05-26-22
Struggled to finish. The author came across as smug and arrogant. This is not the way I want to lead or lead others.

Historia
In 1997, World Championship Wrestling was on top. It was the number-one pro wrestling company in the world, and the highest-rated show on cable television. Each week, fans tuned in to Monday Nitro, flocked to sold-out arenas, and carried home truckloads of WCW merchandise. Sting, Bill Goldberg, and the New World Order were household names. Superstars like Dennis Rodman and KISS jumped on the WCW bandwagon. It seemed the company could do no wrong.

I don't remember it this way...
Revisado: 09-21-21
I used to love watching wrestling on Monday nights and the PPVs on Sundays. Knowing WCW died, I was interested in hearing the backstory to the rise and fall of WCW. Sadly, this book seemed more about trashing WCW than presenting the facts.
The author bashed WCW for bringing in the NWO and the gimmicks that followed. Yet, the NWO was huge in creating a ratings boom. Not according to the author.
The narrator of the book also has a completely condescending tone to his reading of the book. It makes it hard to listen to. It also makes the book feel very opinioated.
I recommend passing on this book.

Historia
Are you on the right path? Will you ever experience real manhood? Young men (18-30) are warriors. That awesome stage of life where everything is on the line. An excellent listen for men who want to do a better job at mentoring and for warriors trying to figure life out. Wichita State University conducted a study to answer the question: What makes for a healthy mentoring relationship? The highlights of that study forms a basis for some of the insights in Mentoring Warriors.

Fantastic book for those looking to be a mentor
Revisado: 07-19-20
Mentoring Warriors is a fantastic listen. David has a fantastic grasp on the topic of mentoring, especially young men. I loved listening to his stories about mentoring men and helping them grow in the Lord.
The narrator had a very pleasant voice. He sounded confident and carried the story well.

Bunch of self-praising gibberish
Revisado: 12-03-17
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Oren talked a lot about himself and the "success" he has had in pitching. I think this book might be for someone who wants to hear the author talk on and on about himself.
Has Pitch Anything turned you off from other books in this genre?
No
Would you be willing to try another one of Oren Klaff’s performances?
Probably not
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Pitch Anything?
Almost everything. Oren talked big and painted a picture of expensive cars, multi-million/billion dollar deals, and rubbing shoulders with some tough cookies. Overall, his approach and storytelling turned me off.
