Historia
Euphemia Williams, known to her few friends as Effie, and everyone else as Eff-Bomb, will punch you for looking at her funny, for using her full name or for noticing that she's a genius. But when an elite global entity known as Unity takes note of her intelligence and offers her a chance to escape the hum-drum life of a foster-child, she signs up. At best, she expects her time abroad to be a vacation. At worst, an actual challenge. But what she finds, upon being swept up in a futuristic transport, is far, far worse.

Boring waste of time
Revisado: 03-11-24
The reading of a juvenile book with hyper emotional expression is a boring waste of my time. I got this on sale. Too bad Amazon/Audible doesn't refund money for unreadable books anymore .

Historia
In December 1960, Crystal Singer, her boyfriend Rick, and three other MIT grad students take a cross-country road trip from Boston to Arizona to paint a message in the desert. Mars has been silent for thirty years, since the last time Earth solved one of the mathematical proofs the Martian civilization carved onto its surface. The latest proof, which seems to assert contradictory truths about distance, has resisted human understanding for decades. Crystal thinks she’s solved it, and Rick is intent on putting her answer to the test.

Rarely do we come across such a decent and open view of our own self alienation from one another. Perhaps the best book I have listened to in over a year. Thank you Ethan Chatagnier.

Brandon Sanderson wrote this!?!
Revisado: 04-21-23
Other reviewers were much kinder than I am about this book. I am disappointed in the great Brandon Sanderson and the narrator whose reading aloud is probably a new thing for him. Boring script that is trying to be funny and a poor reader are a dangerous combination. I continued to almost the half way point, hoping things would just get better. I'm done.

Revisado: 03-19-23
A well researched exploration of one of the regicides of Charles I, John Dixwell, who ultimately fled Europe and England to live in the British colonies of North America. The author clearly indicates all her research and her conclusions able to be draw or not draw. This book is in nice little gem worth the listen.

Historia
An AI overseer and a human crew arrive on a distant planet to salvage an ancient UN starship. The overseer is unhappy. The crew, well, they're certainly no A-team. Not even a C-team on the best of days. And worse? Urmahon Beta, the planet, is at the ass-end of nowhere. Everybody expects this to be a long, ugly, and thankless job. Then it all goes disastrously wrong. What they thought was an uninhabited backwater turns out to be anything but empty.

Historia
When an elderly customer at a Swedish big box furniture store - but not that one - slips through a portal to another dimension, it's up to two minimum-wage employees to track her across the multiverse and protect their company's bottom line. Multi-dimensional swashbuckling would be hard enough, but those two unfortunate souls broke up a week ago. To find the missing granny, Ava and Jules will brave carnivorous furniture, swarms of identical furniture spokespeople, and the deep resentment simmering between them.

pathetic
Revisado: 06-30-22
Whiny pathetic voice of reader makes it hard to go further. I struggled through this uninspired book with a much worse narration. Being different just for the sake of being different does not make the book interesting. It is as if it were written as an essay for a 10th grader's English composition. Boring concept and boring rendition in an adult world.

Historia
It was a day like any other. Except it was our last.... It’s on this day that Pounce discovers that he is, in fact, disposable. Pounce, a styilsh "nannybot" fashioned in the shape of a plush anthropomorphic tiger, has just found a box in the attic. His box. The box he'd arrived in when he was purchased years earlier, and the box in which he'll be discarded when his human charge, eight-year-old Ezra Reinhart, no longer needs a nanny. As Pounce ponders his suddenly uncertain future, the pieces are falling into place for a robot revolution that will eradicate humankind.

Historia
Reidon Ward will become a god. He doesn't know it yet, of course. Reidon was born weak, sickly, and small. Afflicted with a painful disease and abandoned by his parents because of it, he has had to fight tooth and nail for every minor advantage life has allowed him. However, his perseverance has not gone unnoticed, and when the most powerful artificial intelligence in human history takes an interest in him, things began to change quickly.

I generally liked this book, but I tend to dislike coming-of-age stories. Though the plot was a bit too predictable, the book still kept my interest. A tale creatively written and well performed.

Historia
A towering genius who'd already solved the problem of death by making memory recording possible, Cassia leads a team of scientists and problem solvers to a station floating in the harsh winds of Saturn. Their mission: to grow interstellar ships using nanobots in the planet's material-rich environment. She called them "monsters" to help sell the project to a skeptical public. Little did she know how prophetic that name would become.

so very weak
Revisado: 05-13-21
The story was limited, but the performer was one of those whiney, emotional readers; over-dramatizing an obvious make-believe series of events. Usually I listen to books and watch movies I start to the end, even if they are not my cup of tea. This one I just couldn't tolerate the phoney fabricated emotions. Just not worth the time. I quit after the first hour.
BTW: I generally like sexual descriptions.
