Historia
Nick Lavery is an active-duty Green Beret within the United States Army Special Forces. Although injuries sustained in combat resulted in the above-the-knee amputation of his leg—Nick not only remained in the Army, he returned to his Special Forces detachment and continues conducting combat operations to this day. Objective Secure is the methodology Nick employed to return to operational status. It is also the methodology he uses today as he continues this unprecedented journey in service to his country. It is a battle-tested guide forged by fire—literally.

Narration
Revisado: 01-18-24
I’m sorry but I couldn’t get beyond the 1st 30 minutes before I had to stop listening. Although I am confident that Nick is a warrior he is not a narrator nor does it sound good when someone reads the book where they are talking about how wonderful they are. Again, I am sure he is great at what he does and a hero to our nation but the narration is just too bad for me.

Overly dramatic!
Revisado: 02-07-23
While not the narrator’s fault the story lost me because the author overdramatized the presentation. That led me to doubt parts of the story and disappointed me. I have no doubt the Russian government remains very a very brutal regime and feel for the citizens who have been affected by this repressive government.

Historia
At 6:00 a.m. on the morning of October 3, 2009, Combat Outpost Keating was viciously attacked by Taliban insurgents. The 53 U.S. troops, having been stationed at the bottom of three steep mountains, were severely outmanned by nearly 400 Taliban fighters. Though the Americans ultimately prevailed, their casualties made it one of the war's deadliest battles for U.S. forces. And after more than three years in that dangerous and vulnerable valley a mere 14 miles from the Pakistan border, the U.S. abandoned and bombed the camp.

Fantastic Story
Revisado: 12-12-22
A believable account of the poor overall planning and defined goals the US had in this war. Ultimately as we all know things are exactly as they were 20 years ago except they posses billions of dollars of our equipment.

Great telling of this event.
Revisado: 12-01-22
From my perspective I believe the author did an excellent job of trying to be non-bias about the events that occurred. Gave very good first hand accounts of what many in the hospital faced. In the end only future events will determine whether anything was learned or not by medical professionals.

Historia
To this day, the LAPD, Los Angeles District Attorney’s office, mainstream media, and much of the world at large remain firmly convinced that O. J. Simpson literally got away with murder. According to private investigator William Dear, it is precisely this assuredness that has led both the police and public to overlook a far more likely suspect. Dear now compiles more than 16 years of investigation by his team of forensic experts and presents evidence that O. J. was not the killer.

Not compelling at all !!
Revisado: 06-26-22
Glad I did not have to pay for this book. I would have stopped listening to it after about an hour, but it became more comical than intriguing. After policing for nearly 40 years myself I was dumbstruck that the author claimed to be one of the best homicide investigators around. Although he brings forth a credible suspect in Jason his evidence even by his own terms is mostly speculation. Missing from this book are a tremendous number of known pieces of evidence that lead directly to OJ that the author fails to even address and the evidence he does cite he misinterprets or overly exaggerates it relevance and value. It should be clear to the author why no one would take his story seriously or convince law enforcement to follow up further.
This would have been a terrific book if it were written as fiction but since he purports it to be factual its only value is for entertainment. The book could have been half the length if he had not repeated the same things so many times. Finally, his arm must be hurting from patting himself on the back sooooooo many times.

Disappointed
Revisado: 02-24-22
This would be a good fiction novel if the author was not trying to represent it as fact. With almost 40 years of law enforcement experience I have never seen so much unproven information submitted as proven factual information. Add in the overly dramatic presentation of this story and it left me very disappointed in this former police officer’s attempts to bring all of this together as his father being a serial killer. Not worth the listen if you want a factual account of the Black Dahlia.

Very believable but not much character to the book
Revisado: 09-27-16
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Probably not. Not enough excitement to keep a reader on edge or guessing about the outcome.
Did Scott Brick do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
Scott Brick always does a great job narrating audio books and in this case that may have been the best part of the book.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
No.
Any additional comments?
With the exception of the groups having to deal with the cold and some lack of food there was not much outside of one's expectations about the outcome. However, it is quite a stretch to end up with just over 20 people and you end up with a doctor, vet, pilot and person of faith. I guess my taste for books are ones with a bit more action and suspense. Not much suspense in this at all.

Not worth the money
Revisado: 09-22-14
What would have made Murders In The United States better?
If this book went into greater details it might have been a better book
What was most disappointing about R. Barri Flowers and H. Loraine Flowers ’s story?
Not only were the stories very short but many were repeated again during the book
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Very disappointed in the book overall and did not even finish listening to it. In all fairness this could have been written by an 8th or 9th grader. Very little time was spent researching each case.
