Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes; maybe to a person who feels unlucky in love or who has recently lost a close relative. Bear in mind, this is not exactly a self-help book. It's an essay, it's actual literature, written to resemble a self-help book.
Some passages are laugh-out-loud funny, some are inspirational. Some parts are very touching and actually made me cry.
What other book might you compare This Is How to and why?
Dry, by the same author.

I have read his other books (I especially love Sellevision) but had never heard his voice before.
What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?
If you're not aware of the context, you might believe something terrible happened, when it really wasn't that bad.

Joan Rivers is a groundbreaking, award-winning, internationally renowned entertainment goddess. She’s also opinionated - especially when it comes to people she hates. Like people who think giving birth is a unique achievement. Or well-adjusted - a.k.a. boring - ex-child stars who don’t even have a decent addiction. With all of her diverse experiences, it stands to reason that Joan has seen, done, said, and heard a lot of hateful things. Thank god, she took notes.

One of my favorites.

It's not actually a strory... it's Joan Rivers mentioning everything she hates, which is hilarious.
Have you listened to any of Joan Rivers’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I've seen her on TV, of course, but I'd never listened to her reading an audiobook. I love her accent.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Absolutely.
Any additional comments?
You don't need to be a fan of Joan's to enjoy the book, but it's important to know that this is by no means a politically correct essay and might offend some people. Also, you would need to be immersed in pop culture and also be familiar with celebrities from past decades to fully appreciate the humor.

What made the experience of listening to Seriously...I'm Kidding the most enjoyable?
Ellen doesn't just read the paragraphs.... it's more like she's acting or delivering a stand-up monologue. I loved it.
What did you like best about this story?
It's a short, funny book, so it's great on Audible. Complex literature is not well suited to the audio format.

I hadn't listened to/read any of her previous books, but I love her TV show.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Sure, that would've been great. But because I only listen to Audible books in my car, it took me about 3 days to finish it. It made me laugh even while in traffic.

If you like Ellen or love comedy in general, you'll really enjoy the book.
