Historia
Born a generation apart and with very different ideas about love and family, Mariam and Laila are two women brought jarringly together by war, by loss, and by fate. As they endure the ever escalating dangers around them, in their home as well as in the streets of Kabul, they come to form a bond that makes them both sisters and mother-daughter to each other, and that will ultimately alter the course not just of their own lives but of the next generation.

Oh...makes you think
Revisado: 10-03-07
Wow, what can I say. As a woman, I'm so thankful for where I live. As an american, I'm so sad for the conditions we allow to continue, but as a human I see the beauty in this. All I can say is read this book. Get a new prespective on the world.

Historia
Verily, the story Biff has to tell is a miraculous one, filled with remarkable journeys, magic, healings, kung fu, corpse reanimations, demons, and hot babes. Even the considerable wiles and devotion of the Savior's pal may not be enough to divert Joshua from his tragic destiny. But there's no one who loves Josh more (except maybe "Maggie," Mary of Magdalan) and Biff isn't about to let his extraordinary pal suffer and ascend without a fight.

Good but not the laugh riot I wanted
Revisado: 10-03-07
This is my second Christoper Moore book and while I did enjoy it, it was not the laugh riot I wanted. There were several good parts that really cracked me up, but realize you know how this is gonna end, after all, we are talking about Jesus and his friend Biff. Also, if you are very religious... not so sure you would like it, makes fun of a few issues, that are pretty amusing if you ask me. Lets just say, Josh likes bacon. All in all though, I would recommend it, though maybe not as your first Christopher Moore book.

Historia
People start dropping dead around Charlie, giant ravens perch on his building, and it seems that everywhere he goes, a dark presence whispers to him from under the streets. Strange names start appearing on his nightstand notepad, and before he knows it, those people end up dead, too. Yup, it seems that Charlie Asher has been recruited for a new job, an unpleasant but utterly necessary one: Death.

Laugh out loud
Revisado: 10-03-07
This is my first Christoper Moore book and I had a blast listening to it. I loved the off-beat sense of humor and found my self laughing out loud to this book more than once while riding along in the car. A few warnings, this is NOT a book to listen to around children, the F bomb is used, A LOT! ADULT CONTENT! Ok, other than that, lets just say I can see my child saying "not up the ......" to some class too as I would be in some ackward situation like that. Enjoy it as I have!

Historia
The discovery of a dead infant in an Amish barn shakes Lancaster County to its core. But the police investigation leads to a more shocking disclosure: circumstantial evidence suggests that 18-year-old Katie Fisher, an unmarried Amish woman believed to be the newborn's mother, took the child's life.

Great for a long drive
Revisado: 05-28-07
I listened to this on the book on a 13 hour car ride and while my husband didn't enjoy it, I can state I did very much. I enjoy all her books and this was no differnet. The plot twist while expected was also unexpected by who it was and the back story as to why it happened and how it played out also added so many layers to an enjoyable story.

Historia
Painter Honor Sullivan has made a life for herself and her three daughters, Regis, Agnes, and Cecilia, at Star of the Sea Academy on the magical Connecticut shore. Here she teaches art at the convent school's beautiful seaside campus, over which Honor's sister-in-law, mother superior Bernadette Ignatius, keeps a benevolent and watchful eye. No one could have foreseen the day rebellious Regis would come home with the stunning news that she was getting married.

Good Beach Listen
Revisado: 08-08-06
This is a typical Luann Rice book with the story pulling you in and leaving you wanting more. The father is in jail in Ireland and coming home soon, his oldest daughter is marrying a boy she shouldn't be, his middle daughter is searching for a sign from Mother Mary, his youngest doesn't understand, and his wife wants to move on with life. They must all try and rebuild their lives together after that night in Ireland. The book was an enjoyable beach read/listen but a bit slow in places. If you like her other books you will enjoy this one.
