Historia
It's been centuries since the robots of Panga gained self-awareness and laid down their tools; centuries since they wandered, en masse, into the wilderness, never to be seen again; centuries since they faded into myth and urban legend. One day, the life of a tea monk is upended by the arrival of a robot, there to honor the old promise of checking in. The robot cannot go back until the question of "what do people need?" is answered. But the answer to that question depends on who you ask, and how.

nicest robot apocalypse story ever
Revisado: 01-27-23
all of Chambers stories exist in a universe that you would want to live in, this book espically so. A robot uprising where they just go off to exist in the world and they send back an envoy to check on people centuries later. A chance meeting with a monk where they find answers to questions they both had and didn't realize.

Historia
She’s a fashion model who has everything: a boyfriend, a career, a loyal best friend. But when a sudden freeway "accident" leaves her disfigured and incapable of speech, she goes from being the beautiful center of attention to being an invisible monster, so hideous that no one will acknowledge she exists. Enter Brandy Alexander, Queen Supreme, one operation away from becoming a real woman, who will teach her that reinventing yourself means erasing your past and making up something better. And that salvation hides in the last places you’ll ever want to look.

Revisado: 12-08-21
the story wasn't what I thought it was going to be but was fascinating and it spoke to me on several levels. there have been several moments where I wanted to reinvent myself. this story is about rebirth. revenge and theft... well shady dealings.

Historia
Working at the local processing plant, Marcos is in the business of slaughtering humans - though no one calls them that anymore. His wife has left him, his father is sinking into dementia, and Marcos tries not to think too hard about how he makes a living. After all, it happened so quickly. First, it was reported that an infectious virus has made all animal meat poisonous to humans. Then governments initiated the "Transition". Now, eating human meat - "special meat" - is legal. Marcos tries to stick to numbers, consignments, processing.

a horrific apocalyptic tale
Revisado: 10-08-21
A world where animals become inedible people turn to eating other people and mentally justify it by careful cleansing of words and vocabulary about the practice. This appears to speak to modern day events like 1984 and Handmaidens Tale. not as literally , but the cold indifference of the world. For someone that has meat at every meal, this has me seriously thinking of going vegetarian.

The starship Earthling, filled with thousands of hibernating colonists en route to a new world at Tau Ceti, is stranded beyond the solar system when the ship's three organic mental cores—disembodied human brains that control the vessel's functions—go insane. The emergency skeleton crew sees only one chance for survival: build an artificial consciousness in the Earthling's primary computer that can guide them to their destination—and hope it doesn't destroy the human race.

Historia
Leo Graf was just your average highly efficient engineer: mind your own business, fix what's wrong, and move on to the next job. But all that changed on his assignment to the Cay Habitat, where a group of humanoids had been secretly, commercially bioengineered for working in free fall. Could he just stand there and allow the exploitation of hundreds of helpless children merely to enhance the bottom line of a heartless mega-corporation?
