Historia
Fascinated by our pervasive terror of dead bodies, mortician Caitlin Doughty set out to discover how other cultures care for their dead. In rural Indonesia, she observes a man clean and dress his grandfather's mummified body. Grandpa's mummy has lived in the family home for two years, where the family has maintained a warm and respectful relationship. She meets Bolivian natitas (cigarette-smoking, wish-granting human skulls) and introduces us to a Japanese kotsuage.

Her voice, Knowledge, Experience
Revisado: 12-20-21
This book keeps you interested the whole time. It teaches so much and acknowledges not only people's and/or "businesses" behaviors/actions, she seeks to understand why they do. Her ability to be curious instead of judgemental and willingness to learn is admirable. I have enjoyed all of her books and her memorable voice she tells them in. My daughter hear me listening to this one and asks "is that the girl who did the one about cats eating eyeballs"? Yes, yes it is. Thank you for your books.

Historia
Here is an impassioned plea for reason in a world divided by faith. This important and timely work delivers a startling analysis of the clash of faith and reason in today's world. Harris offers a vivid historical tour of mankind's willingness to suspend reason in favor of religious beliefs, even when those beliefs are used to justify harmful behavior and sometimes heinous crimes.

I loved the book and it definitely introduced me to information that I have never thought to begin research on. It made me think on and look into many experiences and helped me find connections in them that were not acknowledged before. I enjoyed the book and a new perspective that helps me create more of my own thoughts amd ideas

Historia
"It's a truism, for instance, that a few clothes are more shocking than none. But for women especially, bras, panties, bathing suits, and other stereotypical gear are visual reminders of a commercial, idealized feminine image that our real and diverse female bodies can't possibly fit. Without those visual references, however, each individual woman's body can be accepted on its own terms. We stop being comparatives. We begin to be unique."

Historia
In the tradition of Bertrand Russell's Why I Am Not a Christian and Sam Harris' recent best-seller, The End of Faith, Christopher Hitchens makes the ultimate case against religion. With a close and erudite reading of the major religious texts, he documents the ways in which religion is a man-made wish, a cause of dangerous sexual repression, and a distortion of our origins in the cosmos.

Eltahawy knows the patriarchy is alive and well, and she is fed up: Sexually assaulted during hajj at 15. Groped on the dance floor of a night club in Montreal at 50. Countless other injustices in the years between. Illuminating her call to action are stories of activists and ordinary women around the world who are tapping into their inner fury, crossing the lines of race, class, faith, and gender that make it so hard for marginalized women to be heard. Rather than teach women and girls to survive the poisonous system they have found themselves in, Eltahawy arms them to dismantle it.
