Historia
The time traveler is on his way to a different world -- 800,000 years in the future. He finds humans called the Eloi living in simple luxury. They have become beautiful but meek, living on their safe, comfortable planet. The generations that have passed without challenge or adversity have dulled their minds. Underground machinery, built millennia ago, feeds and clothes these innocent creatures, and still functions perfectly. But who runs the machinery, and why are the Eloi afraid of the night?

The voice was just right. The actor has range and delivered the performance of my favorite book in just the tone, pace and sincerity I wanted. I appreciate the attention and respect to this masterpiece. I could NOT have asked for anything more.

The best voice for a job like this.
Revisado: 12-28-24
I have never read or listened to this book before and I'm pleased to say this was a beautiful introduction to the story. The voices for the beast people, the doctor and the narrator are all different yet perfectly honored in tone or volume. Well done and appreciated.

Historia
Worshippers stream out of an Midwestern synagogue after sabbath services, unaware that only a hundred yards away, an expert marksman and avowed racist, antisemite and member of the Ku Klux Klan, patiently awaits, his hunting rifle at the ready. A riveting, cautionary tale rooted in history that continues to echo today, The Killer's Shadow is a terrifying and essential exploration of the criminal personality in the vile grip of extremism and what happens when rage-filled speech evolves into deadly action and hatred of the “other" is allowed full reign.

Historia
Power struggles have a constant presence in Martin Sixsmith's story of Russia. Collected here in 50 episodes, he chronicles the Mongol hordes invading in the 13th century, through the iron autocratic fists of successive tsars, to the fall of the Soviet Union and Russia's re-emergence as a superpower. Sixsmith brings his first-hand experience of reporting from Russia in the 1980s and 90s to his narrative, witnessing the critical moment when the Soviet Union lost its grip on power.

This dramatization was fantastic. From the music and sound effects to the overall performance and in particular, the late David Warner's role as Virgil, this was a story come fully to life, immersive and fascinating.
