Historia
There is no question that the United States faces dangerous threats from without; the greatest peril to the country, however, comes from within. In The Bill of Obligations, bestselling author Richard Haass argues that, to solve our climate of division and safeguard our democracy, the very idea of citizenship must be revised and expanded. The Bill of Rights is at the center of our Constitution, yet the most intractable conflicts often emerge from cases that, as former Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer pointed out, “are not about right versus wrong. They are about right versus right.”

Historia
At 28, Stephanie Land's dreams of attending a university and becoming a writer quickly dissolved when a summer fling turned into an unplanned pregnancy. Before long, she found herself a single mother, scraping by as a housekeeper to make ends meet. Maid is an emotionally raw, masterful account of Stephanie's years spent in service to upper-middle-class America as a "nameless ghost" who quietly shared in her clients' triumphs, tragedies, and deepest secrets.

This Is America
Revisado: 03-08-19
This is an excellent story of modern day survival in the U.S. Life is hard when you don't have the resources that others have. Stephanie's willingness to set a goal & work hard toward that goal should be applauded. She also does a great job of shining a light on the prejudices that we, as Americans shower on the poor, just because their poor. This book is highly recommended!

Historia
Introducing Denverite Brendan Murphy, or "Murph" as he is known to the rest of the world. He lives alone in his crow's nest apartment, fries a hamburger for every meal, does his dish, then channel surfs for reruns of Gilligans Island. He is a radical minimalist. He strives to earn no more money as a driver for Rocky Mountain Taxi Company than his needs require. He is determined to stay out of the lives of those he transports. He struggles with one issue and is spectacularly bad with the other.

The Asphalt Warrior is a GREAT, funny story.
Revisado: 06-20-18
The Asphalt Warrior is the perfect story for any road trip. Reilly's taxi driving character "Murph" tells a fantastic story with his constant stream-of-consciousness banter. Buckle up! This story is worth the ride & you'll WANT to leave a tip!

In the National Book Award-winning Let the Great World Spin, Colum McCann thrilled readers with a marvelous high-wire act of fiction that The New York Times Book Review called "an emotional tour de force". Now McCann demonstrates once again why he is one of the most acclaimed and essential authors of his generation with a soaring novel that spans continents, leaps centuries, and unites a cast of deftly rendered characters, both real and imagined.
