Historia
In many ways, Conner seems like an ordinary boy growing up in the 1960s. But since the age of four, he and his brother have been abducted by aliens multiple times. Conner’s gift of seeing beings from the spirit world sometimes gives him access to protection and comfort, but at other times, his ability adds to the horror of being hunted by extraterrestrials.

Intriguing Story
Revisado: 04-17-24
The authors call it an historical parable. I’d love to know what was the inspiration for this story. It definitely causes one to think about what’s out there. The music played during dramatic moments, often enhanced the setting but sometimes drummed out the dialogue.

Historia
London, 1944. While the Luftwaffe makes its final assault on the already battered British capital, Londoners rush through the streets, seeking underground shelter in the midst of the city's blackout. When the panic subsides, other things begin to surface along with London's war-worn citizens. A severed arm is discovered by a group of children playing at an East End bomb site, and when Scotland Yard's Detective Sergeant Frederick Troy arrives at the scene, it becomes apparent that the dismembered body is not the work of a V-1 rocket.

Confusing trite
Revisado: 04-29-23
Ridiculous novel. Every female character just wants to sleep with the detective. Communism good. Western democracies bad. Churchill and Eisenhower stupid. Stalin admirable. Plot jumps all over. Terrible American/NY accents. I couldn’t take it anymore and quit the book.

Historia
Pino Lella wants nothing to do with the war or the Nazis. He's a normal Italian teenager - obsessed with music, food, and girls - but his days of innocence are numbered. When his family home in Milan is destroyed by Allied bombs, Pino joins an underground railroad helping Jews escape over the Alps, and falls for Anna, a beautiful widow six years his senior. In an attempt to protect him, Pino's parents force him to enlist as a German soldier - a move they think will keep him out of combat.

Fascinating read
Revisado: 12-09-22
A fascinating story that fills a niche about the Italian resistance movement during WWII. The main character is like a Forrest Gump—seems to be in the right places at the right times enabling him to participate in and witness extraordinary events. My only criticism is the drawn out love story. I found myself turning up the speed to get through all the pining. She is crucial to the story but it sure dragged on and on.

Bait and Switch
Revisado: 09-12-22
While the performance was great; the storyline was ridiculous. All the writer did was switch the character traits of Sherlock Holmes for those of James Moriarty. It was very predictable and very disappointing. I listened all the way to the end because I thought it can’t be this bad. However it was. Everyone who loves Holmes will be disappointed. One listens because one wants a good sleuth story not a fraud.

Agatha Christie at her best!
Revisado: 08-26-22
I love mysteries where you are kept guessing to the very end. This novel is a classic that keeps you highly entertained. Hugh Fraser adds icing to the cake with his spot on narration.
