Historia
When the Little Nugget, alias thirteen-year-old Ogden Ford, "bulgy, rude, chain-smoking son of an American millionaire," arrives at Sanstead House School, the fun begins. Mr Peter Burns, a none-too-dedicated schoolmaster, engaged by snobbish Mr. Abney to educate his handpicked pupils, soon finds himself and his enraptured class at the mercy of an American gunman...and at the beginning of a series of truly mind-boggling adventures in a delicious Wodehouse tale of suspense, excitement, and romance.

Wodehouse and Frederick Davidson: a Winning Combo
Revisado: 01-22-25
The audio on this recording -and it's the audio, not the reader- is off for the first two chapters so the reader's voice sounds much lower. By the third chapter the audio improves and the reader's voice is back to normal. Frederick Davidson is one of the best narrators of Wodehouse's work. This book is in a different vein than that of Wooster and Jeeves, focusing on relationships over comedy but is still a good listen and recommended for fans of Wodehouse's work.

Rowan Atkinson stars as many different characters in four episodes from the classic comedy series, written by Rowan Atkinson and Richard Curtis (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill), which investigates the lives of four great - but imaginary - men. We hear about the life and times of master orator Sir Benjamin Fletcher: writer, statesman, Nobel Prize winner, painter, farmer, diplomat, wit, etc, etc....

As you’ll see from reviews, not everyone appreciates this comedy, but I find it hilarious. I was thrilled to discover it was offered on audible. Sir Benjamin Fletcher is my favourite.

Historia
Andrew Heaton and an army of nerds plunge deep, deep into films, books, and TV shows to ask: what's science fiction really about? What is The Twilight Zone really exploring? What are the underlying themes of Star Trek? What is the worldview of Star Wars? Also sometimes Heaton performs comedy on other planets.

A Different Take, worth a listen.
Revisado: 01-20-23
I appreciate listening to this podcast, hosted by someone who brings a refreshing new take on various topics related to science fiction, yet which can also be taken beyond the world of science fiction. Case in point, the episode “Hollywood sermonizing vs. Good storytelling”, from January 19, 2023. The title alone is a perfect encapsulation of what’s going on across a lot of genres. This podcast is great for science fiction fans as well as those who might not be into sci-fi but who are critical thinkers who appreciate a host who is one too.

Historia
Can You Forgive Her? is the first of the six in the Palliser series. Trollope inextricably binds together the issues of parliamentary election and marriage, of politics and privacy. The values and aspirations of the governing stratum of Victorian society are ruthlessly examined, and none remains unscathed. But above all Trollope focuses on the predicament of women. 'What should a woman do with her life?' asks Alice Vavasor of herself, and this theme is echoed by every other woman in the audiobook.

Historia
Rob is a pop-music junkie who runs his own semi-failing record store. His girlfriend, Laura, has just left him for the guy upstairs, and Rob is both miserable and relieved. After all, could he have spent his life with someone who has a bad record collection? Rob tries dating a singer, but maybe it’s just that he’s always wanted to sleep with someone who has a record contract. Then he sees Laura again. And Rob begins to think that life with kids, marriage, barbecues, and soft-rock CDs might not be so bad.

Saw the movie? Listen to the book
Revisado: 05-17-21
This is a funny, insightful book. I enjoyed the movie but I enjoyed the book also - a rare event. Be aware this reader sometimes is difficult to understand. The reading could be clearer in places. However, this is the whole book. There’s another recording that is only 3 hrs long. Get this one, not that one. If they’d have gotten John Cusack to read this it would have been brilliant.
