Kristin Hannah never disappoints and I think this is the best one yet. This story will stay with me for a long time. Definitely worth the credit.

It was so boring. Maybe it just wasn’t my jam but I almost didn’t even finish and had to fast forward a few times to get to the end. The performance was great but the story was lame.

I’ve enjoyed this series and this book had the potential to be the best of the four but the male narrator’s voice is all wrong for this character. Not only is the voice wrong (he sounds like an old man instead of a young, sexy, INSOLENT, badass), the way he acts out the speech of all the guys does not match their personalities or the story line at all.

As a whole, I really like the Pucked series, but not this book. First of all, why did they change the narrators? The listeners got used to hearing Violet and Alex voiced by John McClaren and Muffy Newtown, not these two. Second, Violet was not the sharp and acerbically witty character in this book that she was in Pucked. In this book, she’s overly dramatic, annoyingly inappropriate and bratty. Last, this book does nothing for the series - it’s just Violet’s stress (her career is great, her fiancé is rich, and her mom and MIL are trying to plan her wedding. Oh, how taxing.) and lots of sex... which I normally like, but not with these narrators. If you spend money on this book, you’ll regret it. Skip to the next book in the series.

I read somewhere that narrators are encouraged to take acting classes. Now I know why. Do yourself a favor and listen to a sample before downloading.

It’s just so disjointed? Poorly organized? Mishmash? There were gaps and things happened without explanation or description, making me think I missed something, but it happened over and over again. Magical powers were used sometimes but not when they would’ve been useful. Through all of it, I don’t know what the main characters even look like. And then there’s the narration... the h left her Amish community when she was 18 or 20 (inconsistent in the story) but she’s sassy, argumentative, crude, and has a southern accent? She was allegedly beaten by her family and arranged to be married when she was Amish and had an uncle and brother that were cruelly violent. Neither arranged marriage nor violence happen in Amish communities. The whole story was weird and didn’t make sense. Honestly, I can’t believe this got past editors and I don’t know why it has so many good reviews.

Read the first 3 books in The Club series, then read the Josh & Kat Trilogy before coming back to this book. Trust me on this. I loved this whole series and all the series in the Morgan/Farraday universe. So good that after this, I’m going to go back to Hero and re-listen to the Morgan Brothers again before diving into the Reed Rivers series and Smitten. So good.

This is the first in the Ice Home series, which is a spin-off of the Ice Planet Barbarians series. This female narrator is not pronouncing names the same way the narrator did in the first series... she even pronounced khui differently. Her male voice sounds like a Russian Count Dracula, nothing like it was in the first series. I can’t get past it. DNF

But what really hit it out of the park was the narration. Paula Costello’s male Scottish accent was brilliant. The best I’ve ever heard. She should narrate every book with Scottish characters. As for the story, it was good... the usual “I’m too broken to be loved” trope, but good none the less.

DNF. Tried to skim through but couldn’t even do that. This whole book is about a group of well-to-do Victorian men that spank their wives for punishment. The spanking isn’t sexual or playful, nor does it have that love/trust BDSM element that some people are into. There is no evidence of any kind of loving relationship between the spouses. The wives just get spanked to be more “biddable.” Some scenes are downright humiliating and none of the wives or even husbands express any pleasure at any time. It’s gross and not even a little sexy.
