This collection of talks is wonderful. It is a great combination of by-the-book Buddhist teachings and an incredible analysis of Vipassana meditation. Indeed, the entire "Section 2" has a meditation theme, and as someone who can't get enough on the topic, it was unbelievably rich.

He dissects the challenges, the pitfalls, the mistakes, the rewards, the process, the posture, the best ways to inhale, the best ways to exhale... basically no stone unturned when it comes not just to meditation, but to the MECHANICS of meditation, which is something that I have found lacking in other Buddhist content, particularly content from Tibetan Buddhists.

This series is funny, caustic, relatable, and inspiring. It's not for everyone, but if this sort of thing is your cup of tea, you'll cherish it like I have.

Anyone who downloads a 36-hour lecture series knows that they're getting into something hardcore. I guess there's no rule that you have to listen to the entirety of a "book" like this, but if you do listen to all of this, know that you're in for a marathon.

A good marathon, though! Osho is gifted, and he has a bent to his lectures that can really appeal to Westerners. He bags on Western religion quite a bit, basically calling lots of it farcical, but everything is thoroughly grounded in Buddhism and everything ultimately ends up with a positive Buddhist spin (and not just a negative Christian one... although I certainly liked the dissection of Christianity).

I've listened to hundreds of hours of Buddhist content and Osho without doubt delivers some of the very best lines and thoughts that I've ever heard. My one grievance is that there is not that much about meditation and the practice of meditation. Lots of great Buddhist stuff on Audible really dives deeeep into meditation, and Osho not so much, at least not here. But anyway, still a very good listen.

For those really looking to dork out, this is good stuff. It’s probably the 20th Audible title I’ve consumed on Buddhism, and definitely some new goodies. Each chapter begins with a summary of the ensuing passage, and those are really good. That said, the grievances on here about the verse numbers being read incessantly are totally valid. That really busts up the flow, and I bet they regret doing it that way. At least they should. Anyway, still worth checking out.

This book amounts to a rugged defense of two things that aren’t in doubt: that meditation has health benefits, and that people get benefits from meditation. It’s testimonial and after testimonial and medical study after medical study. There is nothing about how to execute meditation or how to reap these benefits yourself. Unless you think meditation is a farce, there is nothing in here for you.
