Historia
Tania de Batz is most herself with a sword in her hand. Everyone thinks her near-constant dizziness makes her weak, nothing but “a sick girl.” But Tania wants to be strong, independent, a fencer like her father—a former Musketeer and her greatest champion. Then Papa is brutally, mysteriously murdered. His dying wish? For Tania to attend finishing school. But L’Académie des Mariées, Tania realizes, is no finishing school. It’s a secret training ground for new Musketeers.

Good story, marred by fractured French

Very good!
Revisado: 06-24-22
This story was really engaging and well told. There's a lot of French in the novel but it's used with enough context that not understanding French isn't an impediment to enjoying the story. Mara Wilson does a great job with the narration, hampered slightly by an editor that apparently *really* likes a good pregnant pause in the middle of a sentence. Odd choice but I don't think it was the narrator herself doing it.

Historia
Padmé is adjusting to being a wartime senator during the Clone Wars. Her secret husband, Anakin Skwyalker, is off fighting the war, and excels at being a wartime Jedi. In contrast, when Padmé gets the opportunity to see the casualties on the war-torn front lines, she is horrified. Meanwhile, with Padmé on a secret mission, her handmaiden Sabé steps into the role of Senator Amidala, something no handmaiden has done for an extended period of time. While in the Senate, Sabé is equally horrified by the machinations that happen there.

Short but Enjoyable
Revisado: 04-26-22
Like the rest of this series it focuses on Padme and a number of other women that were minor characters in the Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, though in a fun deviation from the established formula this one has brief sections focused on Anakin and then Palpatine as all of them work through the immediate aftermath of Attack of the Clones. I really enjoyed seeing Padme and Anakin get to share some moments of hope and peace in the early stages of the war that will define the rest of their lives together.
There's also a fun side story that involves unexpected ties to a couple characters from original film that I hope we get more of in future stories and a greatly appreciated higher-than-usual presence of queer characters compared to other Star Wars media. Looking forward to more from this author!

I wasn't sure about adding another advice podcast to my rotation but the saga of the stolen tortoise and the delightful conversations between the three delightful hosts are just fantastic. I'm hooked.
