Historia
A Radical Guide for Women with ADHD is the first guided workbook for women with ADHD designed to break the cycle of negative self-talk and shame-based narratives that stem from the common and limiting belief that brain differences are character flaws. In this unique guide, you'll find a groundbreaking approach that blends traditional ADHD treatment with contemporary treatment methods, such as acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), to help you untangle yourself from the beliefs that have kept you from reaching your potential in life.

Almost like a 12 step program approach
Revisado: 02-18-22
This book might be helpful for women who feel a lot of shame around their ADHD diagnosis and past. It reminds me of aspects of the twelve step recovery program I've been a long time member of.
I personally didn't find the book suggestions helpful, but I think it's because I've processed the diagnosis, past shame (& other related emotions), and have accepted and let go of those feelings from the past. I have accepted that I'm different for quite some time now and acknowledged how much my undiagnosed ADHD impacted my past disordered eating and drug and alcohol abuse. I definitely think EVERY WOMAN would benefit from a twelve step program & for that reason I do recommend this book for people who are in that mind frame. However, completing the process outlined in this book sounds daunting to execute independently... In my experience with the twelve step program, I worked with another woman to go through my past to identify the causes ofmy resentments and process and accept those feelings in order to get unstuck and move on. Not sure I personally would be able to implement this book on my own.
If you're looking for a long term solution, it might be for you. If you're looking for a quick fix to be more productive domestically or professionally, this book is not that.
Good luck

Raised by unconventional Irish Catholics who knew "how to drink, how to dance, how to talk, and how to stir up the devil", Kate Mulgrew grew up with poetry and drama in her bones. But in her mother, a would-be artist burdened by the endless arrival of new babies, young Kate saw the consequences of a dream deferred.

Just keep reading/(LISTENING)!!!!
Revisado: 03-27-16
I contemplated buying this book for a long time. The summary was not particularly appealing to me, I found the number of individuals that read the book intriguing! All those people can not be wrong.
If you're hesitant in the beginning or you're having a hard time "getting into" the book, just KEEP reading (listening)!!!
I promise, you'll love it!
I'm so glad that I finally purchased that first book. Once I got passed the first few chapters, I couldn't put it down! I devoured the entire series in a few months in a way I haven't read since probably middle school.
Kudos to Davina Porter for another excellent narration!!
WHERE is BOOK #9?? 😄

Historia
Mackenzie, Ava, Caitlin, Julie, and Parker have done some not-so-perfect things. Even though they all talked about killing rich bully Nolan Hotchkiss, they didn't actually go through with it. It's just a coincidence that Nolan died in exactly the way they planned...right? Except Nolan wasn't the only one they fantasized about killing. When someone else they named dies, the girls wonder if they're being framed. Or are they about to become the killer's next targets?

In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women—mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends—view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don't.

Revisado: 09-05-12
The introduction in this book is painful!! I probably re-started the book five times in three months. I had a difficult time getting "into" it. However, once I got through that (2 hour) "hump"... I absolutely loved the book. I immediately downloaded and read the rest of the series within a few short weeks.
I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend.

Historia
In 1994, Driven to Distraction sparked a revolution in our understanding of attention deficit disorder. Now a second revolution is under way in the approach to ADD, and the news is great. Drug therapies, our understanding of the role of diet and exercise, even the way we define the disorder, all are changing radically. And doctors are realizing that millions of adults suffer from this condition, though the vast majority of them remain undiagnosed and untreated.

Excellent
Revisado: 10-07-11
This book is NOT written specifically for audience of doctors, students, teachers, parents, patients or children, but ANY individual whose life is influenced and affected by ADD/ADHD. Dr. Hallowell does an excellent job of relating any clinical information to understandable, everyday concepts that the listener can truly comprehend.
As a person with ADD, the stories in the book provoked a plethora of emotions. Most noticeably, the author generated an indescribable sense of “inner peace” after the first few moments! Shortly after the introduction, I was convinced Dr. Hallowell wrote this book while following me around for the last 27 years! I occasionally looked over my shoulder suspicious he was in the back seat! Some stories brought on a few memories of frustration, sadness, anger and pain. It inspired and motivated me to better myself. It made me satisfied, peaceful and happy by encouraging me to focus on the GREAT, UNIQUE qualities I have and things I do BETTER than most. It made me laugh out loud listening to such similar stories from other people when you think you are the ONLY one. Most importantly, it has given me strength, hope, courage and determination to improve my quality of life, set goals and develop a plan to reach them.
Enjoy!
Thanks, Dr. Halloway
