What a polarizing set of reviews!!! Well, I loved it. What a sick bunch of characters, from the first page. Love the character development of our usual crew. Gonna read the next two installments soon.

Historia
Magical Negro is an archive of black everydayness, a catalog of contemporary folk heroes, an ethnography of ancestral grief, and an inventory of figureheads, idioms, and customs. These American poems are both elegy and jive, joke and declaration, songs of congregation and self-conception. Focused primarily on depictions of black womanhood alongside personal narratives, the collection tackles interior and exterior politics - of both the body and society, of both the individual and the collective experience.

Historia
At the height of WWII, five idealistic young Americans receive a mysterious letter from the OSS, asking them if they are willing to fight for their country. The men and women from very different backgrounds - a Texan athlete with German roots, an upper-crust son of a French mother and a wealthy businessman, a dirt-poor Midwestern fly fisherman, an orphaned fashion designer, and a ravishingly beautiful female fencer - all answer the call of duty, but each for a secret reason of his or her own. They bond immediately, in a group code-named Dragonfly.

OH! MY! GOD!!!!!!
Revisado: 08-20-20
I submit my stars but only about 3 times in the 700 or so books I have listened to have I written anything. The progression of so many characters within a short period of time...nothing rushed but complete detailed. The last 5 minutes were amazing, I do t know when this series has last taken me here (trying to convey this must read without spoiling). I can’t wait for the next installment

I loved until the twists, they were not thought provoking twists, just random. Also, hard to believe this much depth from a 9 year old.

Historia
In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis' parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents - telekinesis and telepathy - who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and 10-year-old Avery Dixon.

I liked the book but....Really Unnecessarily Looong!!!
Revisado: 09-15-19
Predictable...nothing new but who doesn’t enjoy a good story? It was just about three hours too long. So many storylines that did need to be fleshed out, the employees, the leadership, the kids, the law, the game, the “story”. Took a while to get through all of that effectively...the time, the long way around to the finish is my only problem with the book.

But Lisbeth has disappeared. She's sold her apartment in Stockholm. She's gone dark. She's told no one where she is. And no one is aware that at long last she's got her primal enemy, her twin sister, Camilla, squarely in her sights.

I’m sorry...No!
Revisado: 08-29-19
I love this series so I pre-ordered. Where is Lisbeth? We see her but not nearly enough and she is not nearly as complicated, as interesting, as bad ass! There were several stories being told but the one that took front and center...so many characters that were not interesting at all, I could not find interest in their secret. Started out so good but for me it crashed. I’m sorry, was positive I would love it but... no.

Revisado: 08-22-19
This book does not disappoint! From the first page to the last it's a nonstop phenomenal ride. I so enjoyed getting to know another side of Seth, Will stop here before I get into spoilers; well worth the credit and the solid five-star rating I'm giving it! If I could rate it higher I would.

Historia
The philosopher asks: "Faced with the mutually exclusive choice between moral principle and the survival of your family, which is the correct path?" Philosophers love to pose such questions, and in the day-to-day struggle, such thinkers rarely attain to a level of relevance rivaling that of the simple hunger pang. Their careful considerations dissipate under the leveled gun. We do not feel their disapproving gaze when The Others draw near. When the world sends doom, the survivors do not hesitate. The survivors do what is necessary.

I will miss Gibbs!!!
Revisado: 07-27-19
I absolutely love the characters and the personalities of each and every one of them. The dedication to the storyline and the research it must have taken in reference to the military, country boys, firearms, etc.
If you are against firearms-this is not the book for you. It took some getting used to - but that feeling you will have will pass. It’s a great series. I almost want to start over because I miss them all already. Awesome!!

Really Good BUT...Really drawn out!
Revisado: 06-26-19
I thoroughly enjoyed this series and the complete and thorough wrap up presented in this book. Amazing story and cast of characters. I do think though that it could have easily been told about 10 hours shy of the listed 28. That's nit-picky I know, but yes...great book just way too long!
