Paul Harvey deserved better.

I loved listening to Paul Harvey. His stories were always so thoughtful and enjoyable. His voice was warm and inviting. Unfortunately this book has none of the Paul Harvey like qualities. It is more a history of Tulsa and race told by someone who acts as though they never listened to or met. Paul Harvey. It was painful to listen to.

listen to the narrator before you purchase

The story is quite lovely. The narrator is horrific. She cannot keep her voices for the characters separate. She has bounced between every accent available to include Southern. If that is how she read the book in her head, I feel sorry for her. I had to go out and buy a paperback copy of this book to read it so that I could get her horrible descriptions out of my head. I hope they attempt having this book done by a separate narrator.

Awful narrator. Good story.

This is the third narrator for this series that I have listened to. She should probably be narrating harlequin romances. Overly dramatic when nothing is happening. Incapable of male voices. She makes everything into a breathy dramatic exclamation.

It's a new look at the story. I enjoy seeing it from another point of view. I do like that the author didn't stick solely with the original main character but is allowing the ancillary characters to shine through.

Definitely more sexual and steamy than any of the previous books. After the last books, which was more of a novella than an actual novel, I can see why the author opted for something more catchy. The last one was a little bit of a waste of time, definitely a waste of money.

I would actually purchase this audiobook again with a different narrator if it became available. Jennifer Ikeda would be acceptable. But someone like Davina Porter who is more adept at accents and distinct male and female voices would be an asset to the series.

Decent story, but ruined by the weak narrator

I've read the story in the past. It is a little slow to start but it's still a decent story. Somehow the narrator makes the hero sound like a weak, feminine character.

I am a huge Julie Garwood fan. I would recommend most of her books, even though some of the audiobooks don't have the best voice actors. but this one is now at the bottom of my list.

Heartwarming & full of laughter.

Such a well-written story. It encompasses all you could want in a romance. The quirkiness of the characters adds to the enjoyment. As always, Rosalyn Landor is an amazing narrator.

Great story but the narrator is lacking.

A feel good story with lots of laughs. The narrator has an easy voice to listen to as a narrator. But she does a terrible Scottish accent and an even worse male impression. It almost ruined the book.

Rerun with bad narration

If you are an audiobooks fan, like I am, then beware. The story is good. But if you've already listened to this series as an audio book, then you have already heard 4 of the stories. This is not your normal novel. The narrator has a gruff, smoker's voice. Which does no justice to the Author's descriptions of the characters voices. Collin in particular sounds like a very angry barrister. Probably should have just read this one on my own. The stories would be worth it.

Decent storyline, wrong narrator.

This is not the narrator for this book. His accents are worse than average. But more importantly his inflection is forced and flat. Decent storyline, a good fit with the rest of the series.

Narrator lacks range and depth.

Narrator has no intonation for character voices and no feeling when telling the story. She simply uses a more nasally voice vs a breathy feminine voice to differentiate male from female. It was painful. The story was ok not the author's best.
