I love how this book opens your eyes to possibilities in our world. And things that exist out of the normal Americans purview I recommend all of Jack Carr’s books. This one is right at the top. I can’t wait to see what the next one brings.

Historia
When journalist Annabelle Tometich picks up the phone one June morning, she isn’t expecting a collect call from an inmate at the Lee County Jail. And when she accepts, she certainly isn’t prepared to hear her mother’s voice on the other end of the line. However, explaining the situation to her younger siblings afterwards was easy; all she had to say was, “Mom shot at some guy. He was messing with her mangoes.” They immediately understood.

I was hoping to learn more about Florida. Instead the first few hours are about the trauma a child went through and her OCD coping mechanisms germs and numbers. I forced myself to keep listening. I only learned a bit about Florida. The daughter had to learn to accept her past to grow and appreciate her current and future life. This book will be great for her kids and ancestors. I would not recommend this book unless you’re a psychology student needing to analyze a persons life.

Historia
In 1980, a freshman congressman was gunned down in Rhode Island, sending shockwaves through Washington that are still reverberating over four decades later. Now, with the world on the brink of war and a weakened United States facing rampant inflation, political division, and shocking assassinations, a secret cabal of global elites is ready to assume control. And with the world’s most dangerous man locked in solitary confinement, the conspirators believe the final obstacle to complete domination has been eliminated. They’re wrong.

As always I couldn’t put it down. I do however wish some of the Russian chapters weren’t so wordy. Somewhere around chapter 15 I felt that I just wanted the Russians to be done. But overall, I enjoyed the book. Again learned a great deal. I enjoyed the book recommendations at the end.
Jack Carr is meticulous in every detail and explaining things in such a way that I wanna look them up and learn about them. Some of the gun stuff is over my head, but I understand that it adds to the story to really know your stuff and for people that love guns it’s great. Hopefully, one day I will be a bit more percent in my gun knowledge.

I do really learn so much from these books. Yes it is fiction, but as he talks about in the end he does a lot of research prior to writing his books. So there is a lot of truth to the writing.
1. The story line is great. Many twists and turns you do not see coming.
2. Learning about the internet++ was very interesting and scary.
3. The book has a wonderful ending that I didn’t see coming. It sets up the next book very well.
Just when I thought I might take a break from Jack Carr and read some of my other 100 books in my library. It looks like I’m on to his next book.
If you like a military, drama, thriller with a strong connection to reality. Jack Carr books are for you!

Very impressed
Revisado: 02-03-25
This book has an amazing story about the struggles of the depression. It also touches on how women could be limited by families, society, and social norms that also impact the personal home.
The amount of research that went into this book was astounding. I learned a great deal about the start of unions, specifics of the dust bowl. How Americans were treated when they crossed state borders and how the government tried to help the soil that was bowing away.
The extras by the author and narrator at the end offered wonderful insight too. I will be reading Kristen’s books again:)

Historia
The "absorbing and powerful" (Wall Street Journal) story of two pioneering suffragette doctors who shattered social expectations and transformed modern medicine during World War I. In No Man's Land, Wendy Moore illuminates this turbulent moment of global war and pandemic when women were, for the first time, allowed to operate on men. Their fortitude and brilliance serve as powerful reminders of what women can achieve against all odds.

Amazing history!
Revisado: 10-20-24
I knew of Rosie the riveter from World War II, but I did not know about the women’s work in Europe during World War I and how that changed the course of all women doctors for the future. What those women did but shear will and grit is impressive. In addition the number of live they directly saved!
This book should be discussed in all schools showing what it takes to make change. And how constant doubt can be over come.
The book is long, but the details are wonderful!

As a child, she is abandoned in the abyss that yawns between them, blamed by her mother, ignored by her father, and neglected by both. Unprotected and unloved, she learns that the only way to feel safe is to hide from the dangers around her, drawing as little attention as possible to herself, to be "invisible".

Revisado: 09-20-24
Loved this book. It was a touch hard to listen to the neglect the poor child went through. Danielle Steel did a wonderful job with the stories surprising turns. I didn’t see some of them coming which was wonderful. It is not fun to guess what is going to happen. The main character had depth, compassion and great insight into herself. Which is a wonderful reminder to us all to remember our own personal goals and to follow them.
