Always learn something new and interesting

I particularly liked this third Gamache book as it focused on the Inspector himself and his life. Also find these books compelling as I always learn something--geographically, historically or personal. In this book the psychological concept of "near enemies" was explained and brought to life throughout the story--an interesting and helpful way to think about human behavior. Penney writes a good story and I learn a lot too!

Not so intense but gripping story

Although I have enjoyed all of Krueger’s Cork O’Connor stories, I could not read them before bed without subsequent nightmares! Blood Hollow is another good story with twists and turns but like the lower intensity suspense combined with more character development of multiple people in this story. Onto Mercy Falls now!

very much like how the author weaves in southern Sweden history into the story. would actually like more of the cultural and historical inclusion.
