Historia
China thought it would be a quick war, an easy war. But now, years later, as the insurgency on the streets of Los Angeles escalates but the propaganda never changes, a Chinese officer can’t keep silent any longer. Torn between loyalty to his country and loyalty to his troops, he writes a brutally honest—and possibly suicidal—letter home to unmask the truth. Brooks combines his signature meticulous research with unforgettable characters in this landmark work of speculative fiction.

Never explained tiger chair
Revisado: 06-29-24
I liked that it discussed American resistance and I could believe how the americans acted. The chinese and their reactions was unbelievable and written basically like an American pretending to be Chinese.

Historia
Life appears to imitate art when a series of sadistic murders grips the city. Investigating the carefully orchestrated killings, Detective Gene Tripp and his partner discover that the perp might have been inspired by the best-selling novels and stories of popular thriller author Brody Pierce. Or has the demon of writer’s block driven Brody himself to step over the line between fiction and reality and exploit the dark side of his imagination?

Pointless
Revisado: 04-10-23
This is one of those stories that sets up a normal crime drama and then just abandons it for the supernatural in the last 20 minutes making almost the whole story pointless. Don’t bother.

Not as good as others
Revisado: 10-05-17
These stories were heavily lovecraft themed but too much so, such that many just didn't make sense. I love lovecraft but his stories at least had some relatable themes. The others were not horror but tragedy disguised as such. Mostly depressing not thrilling. Other years of elen's were better.

Historia
Darkness, both literal and psychological, holds its own unique fascination. Despite our fears, or perhaps because of them, listeners have always been drawn to tales of death, terror, madness, and the supernatural, and no more so than today when a wildly imaginative new generation of dark dreamers is carrying on in the tradition of Poe and Lovecraft and King, crafting exquisitely disturbing literary nightmares that gaze without flinching into the abyss - and linger in the mind long after.

Not really horror
Revisado: 12-15-16
This anthology was more dark and depressing than horror. Not for light listening, I had to keep rewinding to follow the stories.

Historia
A “fascinating psychological thriller” (Baltimore Sun), this entrancing novel introduces Isserley, a female driver who scouts the Scottish Highlands for male hitchhikers with big muscles. She herself is tiny - like a kid peering up over the steering wheel. Scarred and awkward, yet strangely erotic and threatening, Isserley listens to her passengers as they open up to her, revealing clues about who might miss them should they disappear - and then she strikes. What happens to her victims next is only part of a terrifying reality.

Insightful Sci Fi
Revisado: 06-14-16
This book is well written. It may not agree with many because of the proselytizing vegetarianism but if you like sci fi in the style of phillip k dick this book is great.
