This was one one of the weakest Warriors books I've read in a long time. Another storyline dependant on the cop-out of Starclan forgetting something vital so they can explain away why no living cat has ever heard about it.
The inclusion of scottish wildcats was interesting, and I hope they come back in future arcs. It would be nice if an outside cat group could come save the clans for once, instead of the clans always having to go save them.
I deeply enjoyed Ivypool's journey to cope with her daughter's death. The narration all but killed it's impact, though. Why wasn't Macleod Andrews narrating this book? I'd rather have waited to listen to it with his performance, than get the terrible performance by Katie Rich. I didn't even think to check who the narrator was as Andrews has done every Warriors book before.
Rich has virtually no range of character voices. She gave Dovewing, Icewing, Whistlepaw, and Ivypool the same voice. That voice is one of a bubbly, preppy, prissy teenage girl. There's even a slight touch of a valley girl accent at times. Absolutely nothing close to what these characters should sound like. Especially Icewing and Ivypool, who are both gruff, battle-scared, no-nonsense cats. They all felt out of character for this reason.
She has virtually no range of emotion in her voice, either. Moments that should have been deeply sorrowful fell flat as the characters never sounded more than slightly dissapointed.
For a series with as many characters as Warriors, I'm furious they got such a poor quality narrator for this book. If she's taking over Warriors books, I'm done listening to them. She's one of the worst narrator's I've ever had the displeasure of enduring.

The story itself is great! I was not expecting the supernatural turn of events, and kept trying to think of what natural predator was taking and killing cats.
The narrator though....everything sounds like it was recorded on cheap equipment. He has very little range in character voices, and gave the villians overly cartoony sounding ones. His manner of speaking made this book such a slog to get through, I nearly stopped listening entirely. Reaching the supernatural aspect of the story is all that kept me going. Now I'm just left dissapointed at how great this could have been with a more talented narrator.
This is one you'll enjoy more reading normally, unless you're not particularly bothered by poor narration.
