Historia
How does one begin to understand the idea of a distinctive southern way of life—a concept as enduring as it is disputed? In this examination of the American South in national and global contexts, celebrated historian Charles Reagan Wilson assesses how diverse communities of southerners have sought to define the region's identity.

My roots are definitely in the South with many ancestors who fought for the CSA. The book was definitely well researched and provided many divergent views about The South I learned a lot and would recommend the book. It did have one tragic flaw. When it came to Trump it was clear that the author hated Trump. He was less critical of real racists like Bull Connor, George Wallace & Lester Maddux than he was Trump

Historia
After three decades at the center of race and sports in America, the first Black head coach to win an NCAA championship makes the private public at last. Chockful of stories and moving beyond mere stats (and what stats! three Final Fours, four times national coach of the year, seven Big East championships, 97 percent graduation rate), Thompson’s book drives us through his childhood under Jim Crow segregation to our current moment of racial reckoning.

A great book by a great man. I respect him now even more than when I knew him. I learned a lot from this book and it wasn’t about basketball.

Historia
Monumental in scope and vividly detailed, Chocolate City tells the tumultuous, four-century story of race and democracy in our nation's capital. Emblematic of the ongoing tensions between America's expansive democratic promises and its enduring racial realities, Washington often has served as a national battleground for contentious issues, including slavery, segregation, civil rights, the drug war, and gentrification.

Great Read Somewhat biased message
Revisado: 11-20-20
As a native of DC this was a fascinating well researched book. I am personally aware of many of the events described and actually participated in a few of the protests discussed. I think the ultimate goal of the book however was to rewrite history to fit a certain pre determined agenda. Regardless I am certainly glad that I read it

Historia
A thrilling and revelatory narrative of one of the most epic and consequential periods in 20th century history - the Arab Revolt and the secret “great game” to control the Middle East. Lawrence in Arabia definitively overturns received wisdom on how the modern Middle East was formed. Sweeping in its action, keen in its portraiture, acid in its condemnation of the destruction wrought by European colonial plots, this is a book that brilliantly captures the way in which the folly of the past creates the anguish of the present.

A real page turner could not put it down. A great read on why the Middle East is still a mess 100 years later.
