I don't usually listen to Westerns, but the magical elements intrigued me enough to pick this one up during a sale. Thoroughly enjoyed it. While the characters and world building were solid, I was especially pleased at the well crafted story. I am planning on getting the next entry in the series when it comes out.

Cannot believe this is from the same guy that wrote Noobtown. It’s really dumb. I’ve lost points in intelligence for listening to it as long as I did.

Angry girl is angry

The main character is angry and distrustful of everyone and it became really tiring as we were reminded of it again and again. The narrator spoke really slowly. Play this one at double speed.

It’s fantastic!

Intense action, amazing story, engaging characters, and very well written. It’s fun and hard to put down. Definitely worth the listen. It won’t be popular with the woke crowd though. Nick Cole does not pull any punches.

Authentic and Inspiring

I loved this one. Danny is so honest and real. He lets us see who he really is. He takes responsibility for what he’s done without blaming anyone, which would be so easy to do with the things he’s been through. At first, the narration felt awkward because Danny doesn’t come across as having the best reading skills, but I found that it really did not bother me - it’s part of the authenticity of who Danny really is. I wish I knew more people like Danny Trejo. Hopefully I can be more like Danny Trejo.

Could not finish- hated the MC

I think they tried to make the MC rogue-ish, but they forgot to make him likable.

Series now being milked

This is the point in a successful series where the author has decided to drag the series on as long as possible rather than move the story along. Just finished it and it feels like nothing really happened. No real character development. No significant plot advancements. The series is losing its luster. Hope there is a plan to take it somewhere.

Michael Jr Delivers the Punchline!

This book is more than funny! Definitely worth listening to. Michael brings a lot of great stories that aren’t just fun, but helpful and meaningful. Loved it!

Let’s have a meeting aka Tell don’t show

The earlier books in the series were great and full of action. Unfortunately, the author decided that the best way to share more than half of this story was through an endless series of meetings where the characters just plan and talk about what they did, what they are going to do and how they need to prepare for any possible outcome. It got so boring. Somehow I made it through but really stopped caring pretty early on. Started listening to the meetings at 2x the speed.

I have a new favorite book!

I picked this one up on an Audible daily deal as while bacck after seeing good reviews and a good price with an interesting concept. But because I had a backlog of stuff to listen to, didn't get to it for a while. Now, I've just listened and am absolutely amazed. One of the best things I've listened to in a long time. It's fantasy without the typical middle ages setting. Instead, it's tribal. And it feels authentic. Some of the best story-telling I've come across. Well developed characters and an intriguing system of magic. I had never heard of this author before, but now I want more. Just picked up the next audiobook in the series and cannot wait to listen to it.
