Really enjoyable and covered a lot
Revisado: 03-08-21
This book covered a lot of topics and was really enjoyable.
I really enjoyed the switch back and forth between the two story lines.
If you like a book that will keep you interested and trying to piece together a little bit of a puzzle then I definitely recommend this book! It was easy listening and not too deep, so very good for some light entertainment.

Narrator was great and story was good...

but it is heavily influenced by what happened with R. Kelly and in particular the Surviving R. Kelly documentary series. Of course not exactly the same, but it is so similar. I didn't read any reviews or context when I selected this book, picking it purely because I thoroughly enjoy this author's work, and as I was listening I literally said out loud "oh, its just about R. Kelly" (don't worry I was walking my dog and I don't think anyone was around to hear this revelation haha).
That being said, it was still a good listen and I enjoyed learning more about the main character and following their story and development.
I also appreciated the effort made by the author and publishers to include resources and information about the Me Too movement and where to access help and more information for survivors.

My kids love this
Revisado: 03-08-21
Perfect when we need a few minutes to settle and be still and calm. I'll throw on this audiobook and the kids enjoy listening to it. They usually demand it a second time as well!

The performance was fine. Problematic book.
Revisado: 01-31-20
This book was sold for a lot of money to the publishing company who highlighted the authors 'non documented husband' while failing to mention that he is Irish, not latinx.
This story can provide an opening into the realities of the people south of our US border, but it is written from the view of an outsider. If this book can help some people at least open their mind and hearts, then thats great. but there is more to be done, and more to read/listen to from artists/authors directly from the latinx community.
